D&D 5E Mystara 5th Edition Fan Made Supplement

There is a difference between buying the rights and buying the license. WOTC won't part with any setting, but they will lease it. Problem with a license is they can pull it when they want to take over, and they have some say in what you can and can't make.

Bumping this out of the Abyss (as I just found the handbook.. nice!). Even if WOTC pulled an Eberron and had someone do a Mystara book for DMsGuild, Bruce wants nothing to do with it. I'd love it if Glen could, if WOTC is interested in opening up other worlds....

Also as I'm going through this (and there's a lot), I noticed most of the "new" races don't gain skill proficiency as the PHB ones do. Is this an oversight or a balancing factor? I was comparing this Rakasta to the one I did and realized it.

Great work!

According to Heard, he tried licensing, buying, anything he could:

Again, it doesn't mean you won't be able to. But the whole reason he came up with and wrote Calidar was because they wouldn't let him work with Mystara.

They might want to push more modern settings but who knows Mystara could be more popular than Eberron , Darksun and Nerath or even Ravnica. They are opening up the worlds it seems slowly but if someone else is willing to do the work and fund it it would be an interesting test to make something like this official and see how it goes.

Eberron and Mystara would have some of the original authors doing the the design team would not have to do much.

If I ran Mystara now I would probably use the old race restrictions, tweaked for the new races perhaps. No Dwarf wizards. And Tortles gotta have Tortles (and Rakasta and and and). I have a Dungeon adventure heavily featuring Tortles lol.
