Mystara and Old Gazeteers

First Post
I was just looking through my Kingdom of Karameikos box set today. WOW what a cool product! The old Gazeteers from Mystara are not on the ESD selection from Wizards with the exception of Irendi, which I already have. Does anyone know of a place to get these other than Ebay? They are usually 50 bucks a piece on there. I also think there was a box set for Glantri (did Monte write that one?) which I never see anywere. Thanks in advance.:)

I really like Mystara, as I think as a clear better choice to traditional D&D Fantasy over Greyhawk or Forgotten Realms. Although I have never seen the Karameikos and the Glantri boxes, many people told me that they are not as good as their respective original Gazetteers. I have read these two Gazetteers and I think they are among the best setting supplements I ever read.

Yeah, I just bought the Karameikios box and Glantri box and 2 gazetters a few months ago. I'm running my RttToEE campaign in Karameikos actually and will probably have the group travel a bit later. The gazetters are cool, they help generate current events and its fun to have semi-factual rumors from other lands making the rounds. I'm basically trying to follow the timelines, but when they get up there I might make some changes.

I got my stuff something like 40% off at a local game shop. The guy owns three shops and i had him call around and save me the stuff. I suggest you break out the phone book and call around. Many places are selling their 2e stuff darned cheap to clear it out. Good luck!

Me too. I started them through Keep on the Borderlands first and then they traveled south to find the original ToEE near the Black Eagle Barony. The gazetteers are among the best material I have ever purchased. I am still missing 4...but someday I hope to finish the collection.

Thats very interesting. Just FYI: i'm running homebrew till they hit 4th. I placed the module up north. I'm replacing Hommlet with Verge since the module says Hommlet is a kind of crossroads, and Verge is a small crossroad town thats not detailed. Vebobonc became Kelvin since they said Verbobonc was a larger city, and for Nulb i just put a road traveling north into a mountainous town so deserted it's not even on the map :D A little work, but the upshot is its a much more rich and detailed campaign. Kelvin is detailed enough I can run as many side adventures there as the players want. Plus Verge, and therefore Nulb and the Temple, are far enough north in the wilderness that theres no way the players can call in King Stephan.

I'm also running it at the beginning of 1011, so i might try to fit Bargle the Infamous or the Black Eagle Baron in. Or both, maybe the Black Eagle will fight Bargle the cultist with the players since he hates him now? Lots of possibilities.

I highly enjoyed the mystara world. I have glantri, atraughin clans, and shadow elves gazetteers. The glantri one is awesome don't know about the boxed set though. Any fan of drow elves would love the shadow elves since they are similar, but yet distinctly different:cool: . They had a few boxed sets for mystara too. I have Champions of Mystara, Wrath of the Immortals, and both of the Red Steel sets. Champions is basically like a bunch of gazeteers together along with rules for airships very cool.:D Wrath of the Immortals has immortals duh:rolleyes: , rules to make and play immortals, and a campaign which advances the year and makes very important changes to the world. Red Steel actually is part of the mystara line even though they tried to make it its own setting. Red Steel is way to the west on the continent of Brun. The whole area is covered in the red curse which is quite interesting.
