D&D General Mystra vs. Mystara

The Glen

Legend
One of my pet peeves is people confusing Mystra, the Faerun goddess of magic with the Mystara setting. It's like rouge vs rogue. Completely different things. Just a quick few reminders:

If you are a god, that's Mystra
If there are no gods, that's Mystara

If your magic goes wild and your spells are highly unstable, that's Mystra
If your magic is ridiculously stable and your spells tend to form mushroom clouds, that's Mystara

If you got your divinity through a magical want ad, that's Mystra
If you got your divinity by impressing other Immortals, that's Mystara

If you are beloved by fans despite your modules, that's Mystra
If you are beloved by fans because of your modules, that's Mystara

If you are a goddess with three different backgrounds, that's Mystra
If you are a setting with three different regions, that's Mystara

Let it go man, let it go.

Even if we restrict things to gaming . . . there are so many things to have a "pet peeve" about (worthy of posting) than two D&D terms for imaginary things that sound and are spelled almost identically.

And I say this as a huge Mystara fan. The setting, to be clear! :)

Lost in Dark Sun
And now I want a crossover adventure with Mystra in Mystara

The Nucleus of the Spheres will probably start running at peak efficiency, draining Mystra of her concentrated magic, instead of filtering out the diluted magic of Mystara.

On the other hand, I expect individuals who channel the Radiance would start looking like Derek Powers from Batman Beyond...
