I'd go the other way - instead of looking for things to add, I'd look for things not in 5e to subtract. Really, it's a good example of subtractive design where they took out a lot that - even if a cool subsystem - bloated the mechanics.

I disagree and think diaglo is sincere. I know the guy, and OD&D really is his favorite, but like any good old-skool dm, he harvests freely from other games.
I never joke about the game. I have little time so I use it wisely. I really do want to know if there is anything worth converting. Everyone who has read any of my posts from 1997 to date knows that

I've read a few of your posts. I do think the advantage/disadvantage mechanism has promise but have not seen it in actual play. Hoping to get the chance in about a month or so.
