Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about 4e D&D

Love:
Ease of preparation & play

Hate:
Disenchanting ritual only gives 20% of item's value back (minus the 25gp component cost) meaning I usually have to destroy my entire inventory in order to enchant one item of my level. This makes that ritual very unappealing, and makes the DM's job tougher (he has to make sure that what he gives out as treasure is what the players actually want; its not as easy for characters to simply mold it to their liking)

Love: Ease of DM'ing

Hate: No so much hate but I have issues with multiclassing. Then again I have not had a chance to actually play, just DM so far.

Love:
Monsters. Both creating and running them. Just... like, big sloppy, wet-kiss smoochie love.

Hate:
On balance, the Stealth rules (original and errata'd). They kind of work, but not quite good enough to avoid arguments around the table with pedantic players.

I would say that your hate would be better directed at pedantic players... :D

Love

5th value for resale of magic items. In 3e I never once walked into a magic item shop and browsed stuff they had. So who was buying all the crap I was selling at half value? 20% is much more appropriate and makes you more likely keep the random stuff you find which is less cookie cutter

Hate

Powers/stats limiting your weapon choices. I want a strength based axe throwing ranged ranger or a spear wielding rogue.

Love: It is very fast to create a character.

Hate: Combat is everything, indeed the only thing, of any importance in the game.

Love:
Easy running and preparing as DM.

Hate:
Restricted result space. Attack powers result in damage, and maybe an status applied to the enemy. Hundreds of powers share this restricted space, making them look too similar in many cases.

LOVE

Tactics. You can't rely on optimising your build and doing the same thing over and over, you have to react to the situation on the table.

HATE

Alignment. I see no reason to retain even the vestiges that exist.
