whoever gives me the best name will get it used. :)

also, any suggestions would be nice. :)

“Tree-folk” are a race of herbivorous humanoids that live in deep forests. They resemble a cross between sloths and great apes, and are covered in thick fur of deep blue, indigo, or even black. Their shiny eyes are black, and hide the silent intelligence therein.

These tree-folk spend most of their days hanging from trees and singing in their weird hooting language, leading other races to think of them as lazy and stupid. These are a nocturnal people, however, and are very active at night. Their society is actually very complex, and they have shelters and other nonstandard structures built high into trees and well hidden.

Tree-folk are amazingly apt towards intelligence, charisma, and dexterity. Their beautiful singing ability makes them naturals as bards, but they like to become classes that require study, including wizards, clerics, and monks. Rangers are also not uncommon.

Tree-folk have their own language, but nearly all of them know Common, and many know Elf, Gnome, and Goblin as well.

A “Tree-folk’s” favored class is bard; treefolk leaders are usually bards or bard/wizards. Clerics can choose from the Good, Healing, Luck, or Protection domains.

Dendrizen

Combination of "dendros" (L. "tree") and "denizen" or "citizen".

Dendroth

Combination of "dendros" and "sloth".

Or just plain "dendry" in casual (slightly derogatory) use.

Wouldn't this race be more likely to favor sorcerers than wizards, given their tree-hanging lifestyles?

Or do they wear sacks on their bellies where they store spell books and components?

nope. sorcerers have an entirely different feel than wizards. i like em as wizards. maybe i'll have them wear pouches and things (easily hidden under all that shaggy fur)

I'd vote for Uakari is this were a poll:P

IMo it has the open sound implied by the creatures 'hooting language'
The sounds in Denizen/Dendroth are imo too closed, thin and soft to fit the hooting language (although it called be the Human name for them)

My own suggestion was going to be Uoro (tongue-tap r similar to Japanese r)

Maybe they can spin and weave their hair like Umplebies (relative species?), and even record their spells in the intricate knots of the yarn.

actually, that's a pretty good idea geo. :)

tonguez - i think i will do a poll later today, but the "winner" is not 100% guaranteed to "win", if you know what i mean.
