Narnia d20?

While I certainly wouldn't want to role-play an Israelite slave, I think it would be cool to role-play a Narnian knight, or a talking animal, or a dwarf, etc. For example, imagine being a questing knight on a sailing ship sailing to the far corners of Narnia. Or imagine being a guerrilla fighter fomenting rebellion against the Witch during the long winter. Etc.

I'm sure there were all sorts of adventures had by native Narnians. Shasta in The Horse and His Boy is an example.

There's certainly nothing wrong with playing a son of Adam or daughter of Eve, but I wouldn't want to be locked into playing one. I'd much prefer playing a native. :)

I'd like to disagree with two assumptions that keep cropping up in this thread:

1. The PCs should be children from earth.
2. Aslan should regularly appear to the PCs.

Keep in mind that a lot of the discussion as been focussing around the use of the Narnia setting to introduce younger players to RPGs. For that purpose, I think that making the PCs all children from earth is a great tool. It lets them jump in 'feet first' without any need to know a great deal about Narnia, or how Narnians are supposed to act.

As for Aslan ... if there are children from Earth in Narnia, it's a safe bet he is around! He also makes a great 'quest hook'.

If you're a group of more experienced players, looking for a longer term campaign, then sure - play Narnians. It'd be a blast. I bags a badger :)

The PCs should be children from earth. I disagree. How many people from earth ever went to Narnia in its entire 2555-year history? About a dozen or so. It was extremely rare for earthlings to go to Narnia. For PCs, I'd have them be natives of Narnia. As such, they could be men, talking animals, or the various races taken from Greco-Roman mythology.
I have no objection to playing native Narnians -- that could be great fun -- but, seriously, the stories are almost entirely about children from Earth visiting Narnia when Narnia needs them -- and they need Narnia.

Not sure, but wasn't Purgatory in Wisconsin? :D

No, Normal was in Wisconsin, and Peculiar in Illinois.

And those Narnians with their bat'leths just kick butt, mang.
