Just want to say thank you for ALL of your great suggestions! I really have gotten a good idea as to what to do about this monster--I think I'm going to make up my own sea creature hybrid that isn't as difficult for one man to defeat as a kraken but isn't as easy to beat as, say, a squid.

How about a half-dragon turtle/half-troll (scrag)? (I know, I know...Draconomicon killed my half-dragon turtles and my half-sea drakes)....there's another one for you; half-dragon (sea drake) / half-fiend (myrmyxicus).

Or perhaps a lycanthrope whose alternate form is a school (swarm) of moray eels?

How about a half-elemental (tojanida) dragon turtle...and I have pseudonatural fish hags and salt hags in my game...I have half-dragon (black) crocodiles, but I like the sea cat idea even more...as for seagulls, I have but one word to say:

"Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! Mine?! "

Granted, the current roster in my campaign includes a tiefling mermaid, oceanid (daughter of a triton and salt hag), fine damselfish hivemind (swarm, aquatic), altered human, half-dragon, and a triton prince.

The main villain in the game is a sea hag demi-lich witch (see below) with 4 coveys under her command.
