I once almost fell off of a cliff to my death - my camera in my pocket first fell out, as I was hanging there on the rock ledge by one hand, legs in the air - I felt it slip out, then I heard it hit the rocks below rather too long a pause later. (It was in its case, so it actually survived). Later someone came by and helped me up. I was done climbing for the day.

Now how does that make for a good adventure? Oh, I know - bad experience - pentalty to your climb checks after that due to not wanting to get into that situation again...

Then silly me, I'm crawling through a cave a month later and I climb up this cliff inside the cave, and when I get to the top, I'm having a conversation with someone else there and for some reason, without thinking, I take a step back - and find my foot connecting with air. Fortunately for me, there was a V-shaped impression, and that is what I stepped into, so my thigh caught on the "V" and stopped me from falling backwards onto solid, jagged rock 15 feet below. (And then good luck getting help deep in the bowels of a cave we spent an hour crawling and climbing through to get that far.)

I don't quite know how this relates, but this thread reminded me of it, so there...

Dude, stay home!

He noted that it's against the law to disturb a hibernating bear. Entering the den of a bear in hibernation carries a maximum penalty of nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.

I've heard that waking a hibernating bear can also carry a considerable hospital time
