Nazareth Awakened - Chapter 02: Wives of Solomon

"That was the leader!" Chance says, nodding at the guy receding on the bike. She pulls her pistol and aims it at the fleeing biker, but doesn't shoot. "FREEZE!" she shouts, getting a pretty good lungful for someone her size.

If the biker doesn't stop, she doesn't shoot though. Her first priority is Agnasci.

And with that, we roll for initiative!

Initiative
Harper - 17
Mad Dog - 16
Chance - 14
Law - 12
Buddha-man - 10
Crow - 9
Agnasci - 6

Chance, Harper, and Law may begin the scene either in the Tahoe or standing outside it (I'm assuming all three will choose to be standing outside it - otherwise opening the door to get out will count as an action) and with their weapons drawn or holstered (I'm assuming Law and Chance have their weapons drawn - otherwise drawing weapons will count as an action. It's possible to use a weapon on the same turn it's drawn, but with a penalty to the attack roll). In each turn, which represents about two or three seconds of time, a character can perform a single action as well as move up to their speed in yards. A character can run by spending their action to double their movement value. For the most part characters can only speak on their own turns though simple yes-or-no responses to questions and the like can be given out-of-turn.

I've got Law and Chance's moves (casting Decay and ordering Mad Dog to freeze, respectively - feel free to modify these if you'd like) but players should feel encouraged to give me moves for future turns if able so that wait times are reduced.

Mad Dog is about 20 yards ahead of the Tahoe at this point, not going particularly fast yet, but will be sure to accelerate quickly in his upcoming turn. The front door of the house is about 25 yards from the Tahoe, with the leaking window about 3 yards beyond that. Crow is circling about 15 yards above the house, invisible against the night sky (though Harper can detect it).

We'll say that at the start of this round Agnasci has been underwater in the bathroom for one round.

(OOC :: I'd like to have my spell go off as quickly as possible, and honestly if I have the time to do so I'd prefer cutting the biker off before getting past the Tahoe. Whether I smash into him or force him off the road, both would work. If that's not possible then I'll stick to what I previously said.)

Harper, Thyrsus mage

[section]
Harper is sliding across the seat and knocking the door to the Tahoe open before the vehicle has come to a complete stop. He should wait until he has cast a protection spell upon himself. He should wait for the officer of the law, the one trained to enter hostile residences, to go ahead of him. He should wait for those toting guns to clear the way.

But he doesn't.

Harper hits the ground running and moves at speed towards the door. If Chance is right and that was the leader bugging out then there probably aren't any flunkies sticking around either. Especially with the waterworks going wild within the house. If Harper makes it to the door he'll try to open it and enter heading towards the room that is the apparent epicenter of this magical maelstrom.

[sblock=OOC]Harper is starting his turn outside the Tahoe. Move as far as he can towards the house, enter, and follow the magic. He expects Agnasci to be there.[/sblock]

Harper, Thyrsus mage

Harper glances back as Law calls out to him. He looks up towards Crow circling above the house. He can sense the trepidation emanating from his familiar and isn't sure he'll follow orders but Harper will try anyway.

"Crow! Keep an eye on that one." He motions towards the man departing on the motorcycle.

Agnasci's mind and soul are battered and beaten. He drifts in the water, only a few moments now, but it seems like a long, sunny day at the beach. His body relaxes, and the thought of surrender seems to peaceful. He's vaguely aware of commotion around him, but soon, thankfully, it will all be over.

He's curious, though. Just who, or what, has done this to him?

It doesn't matter. Relax. Rest.

But the gnawing urge won't go away. He has to know.

His eyes blink open, and the severity of the situation crashes into him. His skin tingles with cold. His lungs ache with the effort of holding his breath. He has only moments to live, but he wont die without looking into the face of the naked void. Something is here. Something big. And Agnasci wants to know what it is.

Agnasci casts Third Eye. If time permits, he also casts Sense Consciousness.

Harper slides out of the left rear seat of the Tahoe and sprints down the driveway and across the yard toward the front door, crossing through the falling water from the window. The door has been left half-open and Harper blows through it. He splashes through the living room, flooded in about an inch of icy water. Up ahead is a small hallway dominated by the motionless body of a huge man in a leather jacket and black do-rag. The biker is face-down in the water, with more water cascading onto him from above, flowing from the ceiling of the bathroom where it's pooled up to about two feet. Water hitting the ground of the hallway pours either into the living room and kitchen on its way through the rest of the house or back into the bathroom where it's pulled right back up to the ceiling in a watery feedback loop. From Harper's angle he can't see beyond the bathroom doorway, but it's clear that somehow gravity has been reversed there.

Mad Dog's bike roars, zipping him further away. There are about 45 yards between him and the Tahoe.

Chance slides out of the passenger seat and aims her gun across the hood of the vehicle at Mad Dog's receding back. "FREEZE!" she shouts powerfully and with authority. Of all the group at this moment you'd probably think she was the cop. Unfortunately Mad Dog seems unlikely to heed her command.[sblock=Paradox]Roll: 1 base - Magical Tool Use 1 = Failure with 0 successes

Law successfully degrades the tires of Mad Dog's bikes by 1[/sblock]Law feels Paradox searching for him, but he keeps his hand gripped tight around the coin in his pocket and the feeling passes a moment later. He focuses on the most visible and easily-degraded part of the bike - the rear tire. His spell fires successfully, but he can't destroy objects, merely decay them, and Law hopes it will cause a blowout. It might just need a bit of time to happen. "Harper! Get your bird on him!" he yells to Harper as he follows on his heels, making it at a jog about halfway through the yard - he's the fastest of the four mages.

Harper feels a tingle from around the corner in the bathroom as Agnasci casts his spell. Agnasci can now see the spell in the bathroom that he assumes is reversing the gravity. In addition he can detect the same psychic residuals as he could back in the trailer - he knows it to be from when Mad Dog was here. His lungs start to burn... is this how it ends? Agnasci has now spent two rounds underwater.

Harper shouts out to his familiar, "Crow! Keep on that one!" He knows Crow knows who he's talking about and further he can tell that it has no problem following that order. Mad Dog isn't what had it nervous. Speaking was essentially a free action and Crow will obey on its next turn. Harper still has his normal action and movement.

With that, we're back at the top of the initiative line and I'll take orders for round two.

Law, gun drawn, (I'm assuming it was already drawn, if not he'll draw it now) will search for Agnasci, bracing himself as he heads into the bathroom, ready for gravity to switch.
