Nebin vs Gimble: Is Nebin's time done?

If Gimble's pic is any indication, it looks like Gnomes will have the bard as their favored class in 3.5. Does it mean Nebin is on his way out?

Poor guy. We hardly knew him. :(

Na - WotC in that recent 3.5 e feature article on thier website said that no old iconic characters were getting the boot - just adding one.

This added to the fact that they have a line of books featuring the iconic characters (Nebin included I guess) so it would be a problem for that if they did can nebin (unless he dies -and doesn't get raised - in a book ;-))

Besides, they already have Eberk (or however it is spelled), the dwarven cleric (in the PHB section on religions) yet fighter is still the dwarven favored class.

:)

That's not to say they won't alter / adjust the favored classes.. just saying that one does not necessarily mean the other :)

No, they wouldn't get rid of good ol' Nebin. He's the coolest iconic yet. And I don't think they'll be changing the favored class of gnomes either. That would be blasphemy.

To improve public perception of gnomes I think they should include an gnomish iconic for every class.

Nah, that would be just an annoying clutter of character. What they need to do is to include one hot gnomette. You'll see, that's still what works the best. (And a better depiction than the silly tinker/trickster figure that has turned the whole race into a source of "comical relief"; "comical relief" for its own sake never does any good to a fiction, see the universally hated Snails or Jar-Jar.)

Which leads to the next question... do Gnomettes have beards? and pointy hats?

I've yet to see a D&D 3 gnome with a pointy hat :D And gnomes are not dwarves. Even in 2e, their women didn't have beards, and they still don't. Sorry. :D

Nah the blasphemy is the way 3e treats gnomes as just mini dwarfs and forces them to be illusionist.

Gnomes should have +2 Wisdom
and actually favoured class Bard wouldn't be too bad really better still Druid:D

oh and Gnomettes do NOT have beards

(ps IMC gnomes are actually hermaphrodites. Gender characteristics only appear in the Brood Mother and her mates and only 1 (possibly 2) females exist in any clan.)
