[Necro] Tome of Horrors teaser

I heard a rumor that Fiend Folio will consist entirely of 250 variations on the C.I.F.A.L. and tirapheg.

From what I have "heard" the 3e FF will be more of a sourcebook and less of a pure monster manual type book.

And speaking of the upcoming Fiend Folio, there will be no more overlap with it and the Tome than there is with the Tome and the upcoming MM2 (in other words perhaps a duplicate of a handful of monsters).

Looks like we got all the cool critters :D

You know I thought of a use for those Tiraphegs, but it's all connected in back story relating to those Fraal from Alternity and the mysterious vaguely defined Juna from Spelljammer (yeah I know, 2e concepts connecting to a 1e creature). But whenever I start up a campaign there's eventually going to be plenty of Tiraphegs around.

Too bad the Tirapheg isn't on the list of Tome of Horror monsters, because it's one of the original FF monsters I really wanted to use, though at least it has Flumphs... So I can throw a Fiendish Dream-Elemental Vampire Greater Psuedonatural Flumph whenever I feel like it.

ok, get ready to throw your eggs... i converted the tirapheg awhile ago (in fact, it was about the second conversion i ever did, right after the qullan) and was kinda let down it didn't make it into the ToH. now, people around the world will miss the chance to have the tirapheg and flumph square off a la my "tales from the fiend folio" comic. :D
anyway, what the hell, i don't care. :)

But- I can tell you this....nobody else has (or probably will in the near future) stat Lucifer. :D
Encyclopedia of Demons & Devils by Fast Forward Games. I don't own that book, thank goodness. But it does have some good "fluff".

You have in your preview two creatures that are the reason I am going to buy Tome of Horrors. The above mentioned Lucifer and the Flind. And you have the info for
PLAYER CHARACTER FLINDS
Flind characters have +6 Str, +2 Dex, and +4 Con. Flind characters are ECL 4.

I can't wait.

Peace and smiles :)

Scott provided PC information and ECL information for most every monster that could reasonably be a PC race. The book is full of the stuff.

Scott, if you care to, go ahead and give a sample list of monsters that you give PC info for.

Some of the ones with ECL, PC info are:

Crabmen (or Crabfolk if you prefer), Dark Creepers, Dark Stalkers, Flinds, Frost Men, Sand Giants, Wood Giants, Gripplis, Mites, Snyads, Mongrelmen (also includes a nice little table to randomly generate your own unique mongrelman), Nilbogs, Hlaf-Ogres, Ogrillons, Orogs, and some others.... :D

The above list is not complete and doesnt include the templates for "standard" or "semi-standard" PCs (therianthropes, blood creatures, etc.)

Looks great! Lucifer is nasty; Wish at will, ouch :)

Tiny point of criticism: "His head is large, and his mouth is huge and lined with sharpened teeth. His eyes are blue, and his large curved horns are black. Moloch’s flesh is dark brown."

This description fails to thrill :) Most others are much better though.

Cool. Now I wanna play a Nilbog - what's the ECL? :D
