I am please with the monster selection but what about the layout of the book? The monster seem to run from page to page in the preview, which makes it hard to read and follow?

Except for Orcus, it is true (and the two or three renamed monsters out of over 400). You gotta gimme Orcus

As for layout, I wanted to do one monster to a page but there was just no way to do it and keep the price point at 29.95. So it was either up the price and the size of the book or do it like this and keep the price at 29.95. I put on my gamer hat and decided you all would rather have more content at a cheaper price. Plus it is a very 1E feel layout. Not like the new MM.

We went back and forth with WotC legal checking our monsters against MM2 monsters and cutting them from our product and Scott even checked for recent Dragon Mag conversions and cut those from our product. So we worked really hard to make sure that there was no overlap (other than Orcus and Skeleton Warrior and Demonic Knight, which I just HAD to rename and do). So I think you will see that there is no real overlap with MM2 or Book of Vile Darkness (unless WotC made a change that I dont know about). It was important to us that buyers not feel that they bought something from us and then had to buy the official version in a later product.

I agree with the layout choice. I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the teaser, then I thought about it and realized what was up. I'm looking forward to gettin' my grubby mits on this one.

So with Monster Manual II coming out in a week or so and this book coming out in November, what on earth is left for the Fiend Folio in the spring?

I heard a rumor that Fiend Folio will consist entirely of 250 variations on the C.I.F.A.L. and tirapheg.
