Necromancer Build - any help?

PPPHT!! Blood Magus sucks. I'm sorry but if I want to use Blood Magic, it certainly wouldn't be THIS Pr-class. Now the rest is fine...but for my money if you want to make a memorable follower of Orcus, take Thrall of Orcus, modify it to grant +1 spellcasting through out AND bonus feats at 4th and 8th level. I did that and everyone cheered.

ROFLMAO!

You gave a prestige class two more feats and full spellcasting progression and expected complaints by your players ;)? Hehehehe.

I've never like the fact that they made evil clerics better necromancer than a specialist necromancer. They fixed a lot of that with 3.5 though, by putting a lot of the create undead spells in the sorc/wiz spell list.

However, if you need to make a truly scary Necro, screw all the PrC stuff and just make an 18th lvl spcialist Necromancer if you prefer a wizard over evil cleric. Just make sure his spell selection is undead heavy and for flavor, make some spells specifically for this character if he is going to be an ongoing villain in your campaign. Having his own aresenal of necromantic spells that the players know nothing about helps to keep them on their toes. Also make some interesting unique undead flavored magic items for this character. If you want a cool necromancer, then just play him cool, you dont need 5 different PrCs to acheive this. That's my 2 cents.

Evil Clerics make the best Necromancers. They also get the very important desecrate spell (for giving your undead extra hit points).

And they still applauded :D?
Sure cause they KILLED him. ;)

Clerics necromancers are fine, but only if they serve Orcus. Otherwise they are kind of waste (Well inside Core D&D to me! :) )

At the levels you are talking, don't underestimate the specialist necromancer. Finger of Death as a necromancy spell just has all kinds of great effect. And I wouldn't just concentrate on having various undead around. There are ways to make them an intregral part of the character. For instance, have him have an undead mount. Make it something like and undead Unicorn or Lammasu for extra impact.
