necromancer in the making..help?

I am currently playing a 1st level Cleric of Valshroon (spelling?) from FR with the Death and MAgic domains.. I am looking for suggestions as to any prcs or multiclassing that will help me make the best necromancer that i can be.. Any feats would also be welcome...

I'd go the True Necromancer route. You'll need to multiclass into Wizard: Necromancer for a few levels to meet the requirements, but it's worth it IMO. That PrC can be found in Tome and Blood.

I haven't seen it yet, but you might want to check out Green Ronin's Secret College of Necromancy for more ideas. It looks like a great book from the preview pdf they have at their site.

There's another thread on sth similar right below this somewhere I believe (Death priest seeking... .- or sth. like that).

Anyway, Relics and Rituals, Hollowfaust: City of Necromancers and Tome and Blood all have nice necromancer prestige classes. IN addition, you could check out Mongoose Publishings Necromancy: Beyond the Grave supplement - it's got a lot of stuff for the practitioners of the dark arts.....

Your DM will have to allow these extra supplements - of course.

Zar has some good points but I'd also add try getting Secret College of Necromany. Green Ronin has yet to dissappoint in my view. They do magic right! That said, I still think Crypt Lord and/or Animator are some of the best choices outside of WotC published material.

I just recently played a Cleric of Velsharoon... I had Spell Focus Necromancy, Greater Spell Focus, Spell Penetration, Greater Spell Penetration, and some other various feats. I had a level of Heirophant with the Divine Reach ability. I was casting Inflict spells, and Harm, and all the crazy touch spells from 30 ft and with a high DC from the spell focus, and being able to be SR really easily, my spells had no trouble getting through...

I was a Cleric 14/ Heirophant 1, with those feats plus leadership, and maybe something else. Instead of focusing in the raising and control of undead and went with other powerful necromancy spells... it works quite well instead of the normal, run of the mill necromancers!
