Need 3rd level spell for 6th level Sorceror

I am 19 x.p. short of becoming a 6th level Sorceror (yes, *19*). I am playing tonight.

Since I will only be able to have a single 3rd level spell, do you have suggestions ?

My spells look like this: 1st; Identify, Magic Missile, Mage Armor, Ray Enfeeblement: 2nd; False Life, Scorching Ray

My feats include Imp Init, Point Blank Shot, Precise shot. Do you also have a suggestion for my 6th level feat ? We use BoED, CW, and the feats in the splat books.

Can't go wrong with HAste. Atleast the fighters will like you.

Vampiric touch is also good but you mightwant to wait until you get spectral hand first.

FLy, Slow, and Blink are also very good.

OOPs, and ray of exhaustion seems to fit your feats.
 



You already hae decent fire damage in the form of Scorching Ray. If you fight in a lot of dungeons, there will be times when your foes are foced to stand in lines. At those times Lightning Bolt is definitely a great spell. If nothing else, you can almost always be able to hit at least two foes with it.

If you go for fireball, I would suggest getting energy substitution. If your DM allows energy sub (sonic) definitely get it. If not, then any of the other elements are useful and the choice should depend on the campaign.

I'd go with Slow. Nothing makes me happier than an ogre or giant reduced to one attack and/or unable to pursue its enemies.

Fireball is so tired. Quintescential, yes, but so boring.
 

Call me old fashioned but I'd go with Fireball. You know you want to....:) Do I really even need to list why?

Next choice would be slow, excellent for use against those big, dumb, tough mobs with multiple attacks you are bound to start running into at these levels. Scores major brownie points with the front line melees as well.
 

I'd actually invest in some wands of Haste and Slow, and take Fireball as my spell so you'll get more out of it as you grow in level.
 

I think I'll go with Fireball (*sigh*) and the feat Empower. I'll grab Slow with my next 3rd level known spell. At 9th, I'll get the feat Purify Spell from BoED. This would allow me to shoot fireballs point blank without worrying about collateral damage, AND do more damage to evil outsiders.

An empowered Ray of Enfeeblement (which I will be able to use right-away with those 3rd level slots) is something to behold. At 6th level, that means (1d6+3)+50% strength drained on a critter, no save, or from 6 to 13 str, or from -3 to -6 on attack rolls and damage. Neat.
