Need a Cthulhu cultist type PrC

atom crash

First Post
I'm looking for a "Cthulhu cultist" type Prestige Class to pit against my PCs, something that can scare the hell out of them. I'm thinking something along the lines of the Alienist, but for clerics rather than wizards. I've looked through Complete Divine but nothing really struck me. The Entropomancer looks kinda cool, but it's just not quite what I'm looking for.

I was also hoping there might be a PrC or two in the Dragon issue that had the Far Realm stuff a few months back, but no such luck there.

Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Then go for the Thrall of Demogorgon (Book of Vile Darkness, p. 67). With some minor modifications you could be on the right track.

I.e. ReachingTouch and Dual Action...

Enjoy!

Why wouldn't Alienist work for a cleric?

IIRC one of the pre-reqs is Spell Focus (Conjuration).

I took a long look at the Alienist last night and considered just dropping that pre-req and making some small tweaks. But then I thought to ask the experts (you guys, of course) to see if there was already something out there I could use as is.

There's a thought. I should look more closely at my BoVD tonight.

I might also be able to pull off what I'm looking for with a template. I remember seeing something called a farspawn (?) as I flipped through Lords of Madness.

For the record, I'm looking for something in a CR 10 or CR11.

True.

I must have been suffering earlier from a brain fart, it seems. My sanity was wiped out along with my all campaign notes on my EZBoard forum.

Are you sure you want to include Cthulhu-esque elements in your game?

I'm a method actor. I'm getting into character for when I have to describe a city full of people going mad when the Yellow Sign appears in the sky. ;)

The Doomdreamer class from Return To The Temple Of Elemental Evil is kind of Chutlesque.

Don't know if it appeared in other books, though.

The Doomdreamer looks really nice. I especially like the idea that he can look at a PC, learn some secret they possess and stun them for 1-3 rounds by speaking it aloud. That's got tons of paranoia possibility.

"How did he know that?!"
