Need advice on wealth by level

I'm trying to stat out an Epic level character who is being converted to the Pathfinder system, and realized that the wealth by character level charts seem different than those in normal 3.5, with respect to how much gp worth of equipment an NPC or PC gets.

It seems like Pathfinder NPC's only get about 70% of the gp allocation for gear that they get in 3.5. Was there any kind of ratio for how these numbers were derived? Do I just take at the wealth of NPCs in the Epic Level Handbook, and just calculate a number that is 70% of what a core 3.5 NPC would have?

PFRPG uses different XP progression rates (slow, medium, fast). Because of these, wealth distribution needs to be different (so that "slow" rate character won't become rich earlier than "fast" ones due to higher number of encounters).

The best way would be to choose one of those rates as a baseline and then extrapolate wealth based on comparison between 20th level characters.
