Need an alternate ranger class that favors ranged comabt

Hi,
I sort of recall seeing an alternate version of the ranger class that had an emphasis on fighting with bows rather then using two style fighting. Am I crazy or does such a thing exist. Thanks for any help.

The revised core rulebook will allow rangers to have an archery style in lieu of two weapon fighting, so rumors say.

Ambient's excellent Three Arrows for the King presents an alternate Ranger Class that is an archer.

Check out the Mercenary Ranger from AEG's Mercenaries book. One of the best alt.Rangers out there, IMO, because it emphasizes options rather than restrictions.

Want a Ranger that rocks with a bow and is a master tracker & woodsman? No problem.

A Ranger that has spellcasting capability that hunts down monsters within his domain? Can do.

A two-weapon fighting melee machine complete with animal companion, extra HP's, and improved natural armor? Certainly.

The beauty of this class is that it allows you to mix and match the options you want to build the Ranger to fit your concept.

why not just replace their virtual TWF and AMB with Point Blank shot and precise shot? Keep track, BAB, Saves, Spell progression and skill list.

I'll second Apok's recommendation: give the mercenary ranger a try. If you want a slightly simpler approach (or don't want to buy Mercenaries), go with hammymchamham's approach.

Personally, I think the archer class from Sovereign Stone is a bit too twinky to be used as is.

I believe the dragonstar player's guide (D&D in space) has rangers swapping two weapon fighting for PBS and another specific archery feat.

I don't have it in front of me bu I believe the ranger in the everquest RPG PH is more archery oriented as well.

I have to agree with the most wise of pigs (hammymchamham). Dump the twf and amb and replace with archery-oriented feats.

It’s simple and fast for both the DM and the player.
