Need an Anti-Magic PrC

One of my fellow players is looking for a PrC that is specifically geared toward shrugging off magical effects. I know there is a class like this in the Compleate Warrior but is there one anywhere else. The one in the complete warrior is more of a wizard killer and less of a magic resistance guy than what this player is most likely looking for.

Thanks,

Dan

Spell Turning. Spell Resistance. Compulsion Resistance. Any or all of these would work.

He just doesn't want his fighter to be the enemy mage's whipping boy like so many fighters are.

Well for SR I know it's not a PrC but monk levels would work, or expensive SR-bestowing magic items. There is a shield (mirror shield?) that has spell turning capabilities. Offhand I cannot think of a single PrC that is devoted towards making someone resistant to magic/magical effects. I'm sure there has gotta be one out there somewhere, although I doubt whether it would be in a WotC book - perhaps 3rd party PrC books? I have a pretty comprehensive 3rd party PrC book, just not with me here (I'm at work) but I will look at it when I get home and see if something comes up.

I know there is that one, I think called the Forsaker (?) where you cannot use magic/magic items, and in fact have to destroy magic items like every day to keep your PrC bonuses... but IMHO that class would be incredibly hard to play, and likely would be killed off sooner rather than later. Reminds me of the Frenzied Berserker - sounds cool as hell, until you see how fast one gets taken out.

That requires at least 13 monk levels, which might be a bit much.

A paladin of freedom (UA) gets compulsion immunity at level 3. The save bonus from divine grace he gets would come in handy too.

Also, Mettle is a useful ability: Like evasion, but for Fort and Will saves. Pious Templars (CD) and Hexblades (CW) get it. Come to think of it, Hexblades also get Arcane Resistance (ChaMod to saves vs. spells/effects) early on.

Personally I think the Occult Slayer (from CW) is fairly good at shrugging off magical effects. After five levels it has +3 bonus on saves vs. spells and like-abilities, immunity to compulsions and 2/day spell turning as long as he has his weapon in his hand.

What more do you want man ?

;).
