Need deity ideas for a cleric/fighter in FR

Hi I'm trying to generate a cleric/fighter type PC in FR, and I'm trying to figure out the best deity to pick. I don't have the FRCS (but I'm fairly familiar with FR generally), and I was hoping to put down some general wants for a deity and just see if some nice people would tell me what god might be a match.

I want this PC to be a bit edgy and bitter. He'll be a noble fallen on bad times, and picture this guy as eventually working his way towards either the cavalier PrC or the War-Priest PrC. The PC will be charismatic and no doubt will eventually try to fight his way back into some position of authority.

As far as domains I'd like, I'm hoping to find some combination of Destruction (or another vengeneful domain), Luck, or War. The two gods that attracted me from standard D&D are St. Cuthbert and Hextor.....though I know that both gods don't match the concept I'd envisioned totally.

Btw, the campaign will be set in the Silver Marches, which I only know a few things about.

Thanks,
C.I.D.

(PS - I'm trying to make the character for a session tomorrow, and I don't really want to wait til the last minute to look at my DM's FRCS)

Cleric of Tyr, bitter about the unscroupulous people who forced the bad times upon him, and seeks his rightful position and authority. Retribution is Tyr's thing. His domains are Retribution, War, Law, and Knowledge.

Maybe your character simultaneously wants revenge but knows revenge is wrong, so is conflicted internally. Nice and angsty. May even want to go paladin/cleric (FRCS allows paladins of Tyr to multiclass as clerics). I love the bitter paladin type. Just think of Sturm.

What are Tyr's Domains? That sounds like a cool concept actually........ :)

Does your character have to be Human? Try a Dwarf instead! Maybe your dissappointement stems from your family's grudge against the Dwarfs of Mithril Hall, and how thier appearance and conquest of the oh-so-valuable mines/city has displaced your clans hopes of ever laying claim to it's riches, not to mention all that prestige! Later, should you decide that your character would like forgive and forget (or that you're satisfied with the recognition of your Clan once again, or some-such), you can say that you've decided to give-up your father's bitterness and think for yourself.

I'd look up the Gods of FR Dwarfs, but I don't have my own FRCS handy.

Not to mention I've recently glanced at a PHB 3.5 and thought it's cool that a Dwarf can be a "Ok Mr Dwarf, you're carring a small fortune and wearing Heavy Armor, what's your current Base Speed again? 20, same as last time you asked!" :p

vengeance

if you're in FR, and you're looking for a god of vengeance to serve..

look no further than Assuran, or Hoar, as he's known in some lands, the Lawful Neutral demigod of revenge, retribution, and poetic justice! the sole survivor of the Untheric pantheon, he's a hardy, bitter old god - first he survived Grummsh and the other intruding orc deities' attacks, then secondly he survived the dread attentions of Tiamat, the dragon queen of evil. now he's busy surviving the attacks of the Mulhorandi pantheon, who're trying to take over the lands of Unther... bad, bad colonialists! his followers include the downtrodden, the oppressed, the bitter and decaying, as well as both vigilantes and assasins.

The domains available to Hoar are Law, Fate, Retribution, and Travel, if i remember correctly. Law and Travel are in the PHB (Travel's really good as a domain, btw); Fate gives you the uncanny dodge 1 ability or a rogue or barbarian, and gives pretty nice spells ranging in power from True Strike to Mark of Justice all the way up to Mind Blank and Foresight. Retribution gives you the ability to perform a retributive strike - once per day, when you are damaged in combat, you may make a melee or ranged weapon attack next rd that deals maximum damage if it hits. there's also some pretty impressive spells in there from shield of faith and fire shield that goes all the way up to discern location and storm of vengeance.

these domains are in the FRCS, if you're wondering.

you mentioned a liking for the war-priest or cavalier as an eventual progression; perhaps the Travel and Retribution domains would serve you well, if you're a bitter, cynical old man fallen on hard times, trying to hold to a code of chivalry to protect the ideal of a manor that you no longer own while trying to master his vengeance and anger without letting it consume him. maybe you could become some kind of dark protector/ avenger-type, a la the Punisher; with the Travel domain and a horse, you could literally go places and bring the Law of Punishment down upon miscreants. Your divine magic could root out those criminals who try to hide and run... and Fate could be more your thing, if you like to Power Attack 2-handed, Deadly Charge, and True Strike as a domain spell for horrible, horrible impact.

you could be the mysterious, bitter jaded Dark Knight, who teleports onto the battlefield with his warhorse, from a cloud of obscuring mist, to perform devastating chargin Divine Power Attacks! :-P

yours,
shao

Sounds like Hoar might be a good choice. His portfolio is revenge, retribution, and poetic justice. His domains are fate, law, retribution, and travel. He accepts clerics of LE, LN, and LG alignment. He was originally diety of Unther, but was cast out and his worship has spread, and his priest are mostly itinerant so his worshipers could turn up about anywhere.

If you download the deities supplement from here:

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/we/we20010606a

you can find a paragraph or so about him. There is a more detailed description in Faiths and Pantheons if you have access to that.

Personally I it would be very cool to play a paladin of Hoar, though it might be a hard line to tow.

[OOP looks like someone beat me to the punch.]

Helm.

Helm can kick anyone's @$$, and then some. If I'm not mistaken (for I'm not that big a fan of FR), Helm was Lord Ao's second in command, responsible for protecting the whatever it was that Lord Ao wanted protected. When Bhaal and the other few gods decided to steal them away, Ao stripped Helm of his position and powers as punishment for failure to do his duty (during the Time of Troubles). Helm accepted the punsihment, and has yet to stop beating himself up over it.

Helm's clerics are now trying to win back their Lord Helm's rightful power by demonstrating excellence of vigilance and purity of loyalty. The fact that they are unappreciated though they serve so unfailingly can drive the most optimistic of Helm's lot to bitter cynicism.

Helm emphasizes duty above all else, and the commitment to fulfilling your task, be it to save the world, or protect some small hovel in the middle of nowhere. Helm is a sentry, ever-vigilant, ever-watchful, and he knows that the end of the world will come on his watch - and he is unable to stop it.

His domains are Law, Planning, Protection and Strength. Not exactly what you're looking for, I admit, but the fact that Helm was once the god everyone feared (but is now looked down upon for his actions during the ToT) is too good to pass up.
