Need Help Bad!!!!!

The end result was........ Craft! We chose craft because it was the skill which gave mechanics for creating an outstanding work. Perform and profession determine income NOT quality of work.

With a good Craft: Ballad(Poem) check it would be possible to create an outstanding piece (+2 to the perform checks its so good). Creating such a work does not mean you get to eat that week... only that you created it.

Thank You all for your help. I had posted this on Monte's board as well..... I'm surprised he replied. All of your arguments have been helpful.... thank you for your time.

So, if it is using the craft skill, how would you go about doing that? The craft DC would be sort of easy to set, but one just sits down and writes it there is no cost. Also, some poems turn out better then others. One doesn't really sit down to write a MW version of a ballad. You write the ballad and it may or may not be something fantastic. You really need to have a page of new rules just for crafting a written work.

I'm not saying perform works much better. After thinking this through I think it would have to be a new skill: Writing. It could work like poerform, each rank gives you a different style.

Here's a radical idea: Pay it. :D

Are you nuts? I say, wait for them to come to your house, arrest you, and just enjoy the jail time while you wait for the juge to call you a deadbeat.

Pay it?! Jeesh, how dumb are you? ;)

Be mature, do the right thing and take responsibility for your action. Also, in todays high tech world this can hurt you down the line. Many businesses do back ground checks when they hire you, and this will show up.

fuel on the fire

So, now that you have come to the conclusion that craft is the skill used to write ballads, how exactly are you determining how long it takes to actually craft your ballad?

Too find this out a DC has to be set and a price must be placed on your finished product which would be highly subjective
Now the DM has to place a value on the ballad you are trying to "craft" becasue otherwise you have no way to determine how long it takes to "craft" your epic ballad.

Well if you look at modern boy bands and the like they can sing the songs, but they can't write them (not that the songs are worth singing, but they usually have singing ability- even if I hate the way it sounds). Historically, however, songs were written by the singers- or other singers. What good is a bard who can't write his own songs anyway?
