He's a Gish but not in the applied sense (not really a melee guy, no Spellsword or Wraithstrike nonsense). In the players own words he's a ranged attack guy.. I think he has a lot of ranged touch spells but also some util spells like the aforementioned Grease and Haste.

Personally I like it But more because I like how the word sounds not how it is derived. But if this gish would rather focus on his ranged spells and such A wiz/sor could focus on battlefield control / utility. This would make the current player happy and give you a place in the party.

Clerics suck though
