Need help for survival in a post apocolyptic world...

Kashell

First Post
Basically, our group of 4 (Monk7, Fighter7, Ranger5/sorc1/fighter1, Wizard6/rogue1) was owned by a flesh golem. We had a very nice TPK.

Soon after, our characters are all resurected(we were all lvl 8--long story as to how we got out... :| ) and find ourselves in a world where the bad guy we were trying to kill has pretty much pwned the world.

Basically, where before there were huge cities for us to explore and gain whatever magic items we needed, there is now NOTHING to our knowledge. All of our magic items we had before we died are gone, AND my cohort is gone as well as all of my follwers.

Without a Cleric in the party we're always finding ourselves with low health(pretty much why we were owned by the flesh golem in the first place) and we're getting too close to death during battles for my comfort. (Umm, last session everyone got below 10 health at some point in time, with no way of healing ourselves....)

I'm gonna request my DM for a cleric for a cohort...but besides that I have no clue what the hell to do...

Invest in the Heal skill, missle weapons, and bone up on your tactics. If they're available, get friends - the more the merrier. And don't treat them as expendable.

When the crutch of magical healing isn't available to lean on it becomes much more important to gather every possible advantage you can get. Tactics. Terrain. Numbers. Communication. Mobility. Engagement distance. Material resources. Discipline. Treat every fight like it could well be your last, because without that healing 'gotcha', fights have consequences. Big ones. Like dying. Those kind of consequences.

Besides, when you're able to not need a cleric, you'll be a lot more effective once you get one. :]

Well, you have a ranger... not quite as good as a cleric for healing, but he could still use a wand of cure light wounds.

Other than that, I would be looking around for the guy who resurrected me, since he is apparently non-hostile and relatively powerful, and since I seem to owe him a tiny favor.

Darren, I doubt a ranger would be able to use a magical device(DUH!!)

Besides that, we're lvl freakin' 7 in a post apoctalyptic world. Finding a person to 'resurrect' us when we die isn't something that just pops up.

Not to be an assclown, but rangers don't need to have UMD skill to use a wand of cure light wounds.. it is on their spell list, they can use it.

Actually, Rangers and Paladins can both use wands of any spell they have on their spell list, even before they receive spellcasting ability.

Since your ranger is higher than 4th-level, he can cast a few healing spells on his own as well as using such wands.

Rangers have Cure Light Wounds on their class spell list. If he's got a wis of 12 or higher, he doesn't even need a wand to cast one per day. Duh indeed.

"Soon after, our characters are all resurected..."

So who resurrected you all? Or was it one of those naturally occuring resurrections that I've been hearing about so often these days?

Really, I didn't know that about rangers. :)

We were revived by a group of humans who traveled to the heart of a undead mountain(these humans are at least lvl 20 by what my DM was describing) and revived us there.

"Croc" the aberational god basically now rules the world and because of this, a dark cloud covers the material plane (making it increasingly and increasingly harder to cast spells...ESPECIALLY resurrection, healing spells, and divine spells.)

So we had to be revived in the middle of this mountain because it's the only place where we COULD be revived. (there's a 'hole' in the dark cloud here because of all the undead) The group that revived us only did so because they divined of how they could kill Croc and our names were told to them....So they revived us.

So, basically, if we were to die again, to revive us, one would have to travel to the heart of an undead mountain(lich lords and all), revive each of us, then escape with all of us alive.

With us being only lvl 7 characters at the moment, if we die at the moment, I would hardly see the point of someone else going to that kind of effort to revive lvl 7 chars...

I don't see that happening again, really.
