And she looks like Charisma Carpenter, except that the goddess is blue-tinted where Charisma is brown-tinted.

Well that only makes sense, what with the poor girl having to hold her breath from being undetwater for so long.

Great concept so far. I vote for CN, but mostly as a representation of her duality. Often sea deities are seen as both nurturing and destructive, depending on their mood and the season. She would likely have a multitude of titles based on her different aspects again not uncommon. Choosing a nmae is important too. Given that any thought? Thallasomer (mangled unauthentic pidgin Greek/Latin for Sea-Salt) and thus The Bountiful Thallasomer, Shark-toothed Thallasomer, Thallasomer of the Dancing Waves, Thallsomer the Drowner, Thallasomer Black Eyes.

I love the idea of the drowning ritual (or perhaps near drowning?). I believe there is something similar in A Game of Thrones.

I am invisioning her worship as very sensual, lots of insense, dancing, drums, and even sacrifices. I bet she prefers the sacrifice of land animals, by drowning at that. Her clerics probablly speak of her more as a demanding and dominering lover than anything else.

If she is the child of an old god, is that god dead? Perhaps she rose from the body of a great sea dragon, split open by some hero. Or was she even the humanoid offspring of diety, now risen to the rank of godhood by quests of her own. He orgins can play a big part in how she relates to the world and how her worshipers view her.

Harpoon might be a more appropriate weapon than Trident. But, what do sailors and pirates use in your world? That wepon might be associated with the godess. A special curved sword or dagger would be good choices. Or even a net.

Sound like a great idea. Love to hear what you end up with.

Capricious fickle goddess of the oceans? You might look up Umberlee, the Forgotten Realms goddess of the Sea. Her Titles are The Bitch Queen (seriously) and the Queen of the Depths, she's one of the Gods of Fury (under the leadership of Talos the Destroyer), she's CE and has Chaos, Destruction, Evil, Ocean, Storm and water as Domains. She's Intermediate (for the protocol: Wiz20/Clr10/Ftr10, DR 12). She does use a trident she calls Drowning Death.

Umberlee is less worshipped than placated. The clergy has a ritual called the Drowning were someone is placed into a room which is then flooded. Those who survive are confirmed in the service. If they ever betray the Bitch Queen, the'll drown - no matter how far they are away from water. Even in the desert, these poor souls are found with water in their lungs, quite dead.

Add to that the Dark Sun concept of Elemental Priests (who have to submit to the mercy of the elements in order to become priests, e.g. jumping into the ocean or being buried alive. Only those that got help from an Elemental entity survive and are clerics after that).

I'm going with CE here. It fits the other alignments of the element gods, she intends on killing the other churches, and water is pretty evil anyway, but that's just my opinion.

She is going to be the daughter of two current gods. I kind of like the idea of the priest thinking of her as the demanding dominering lover. One reason behind choosing a woman to represent her (sorry if this offends anyone) is sometimes women have the ability shift mood and desiors so quickly your left standing there wondering. I thought this went well with the sea, calm one minute a raging storm the next.

I also designed my cleric with Balen (I think it was him) Greyjoy in mind. The seafoam robes, long hair, wild beard, and a drift wood club. The rest of my party is convinced that I'm totally insane. He also drinks plenty of sea water. I think that is also going to be a special ablility. The free sonsumtion of sea water with little effect.

I did read Umberlee when I was doing research for my character. She's an influence but I don't want to use her. I do plan to steal the title of the Bitch Queen though, too good to pass up. She feels too evil for me not quiet right.

I think that Umberlee really fits your description so far, just tone down her descrutiveness a little if she sounds too evil. You can change her name as you wish, and eventually move her to CN although I think that CE is still more appropriate to your case.

There was a N god of the sea called Eadro mentioned in early 3.0 books (maybe MM and DotF), but he was never covered extensively in any book that I remember. I think however its domains were given somewhere.

She played Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire slayer. She was very, very bitchy. Photo Link.

The only problem with the goddess being CE is that clerics are limited to CN, CE and NE. That may cause problems in some games.
