Need help with 'Haunted Manor' adventure

People fear the unknown and what they don't understand.

Little girls are always scary :P

I read another thread here about making an alien spaceship creepy. One suggestion was for the pcs to find a painting of themselves. It depicts them doing something they did earlier in the manor (like fighting or fleeing the "ghost", simply entering the doors, etc. You get the "picture" ;) )
 

I ran the Wixards module Kincep Manor for like 8th level. It was ok, but lacked the scary detail you are looking for. It did have an encounter in the stables with an animated solo wagon brute-type. It was tough and had reach which was good, but the stall walls limited its movement and allowed the pc's to climb over the stall walls to get away and several ended up in the loft above the stable.
 

this will depend a lot on your group's play style, but you could also consider


Haunted House * Fear
While inside the house, all creatures take a -2 penalty to d20 rolls
Creatures immune to fear and creatures native to the house are immune to this effect.

Haunted House * Fear
Aura 20: A creature in the aura who does not end his turn further away from the house from where he started takes a -2 penalty to d20 rolls (save ends).
Creatures immune to fear and creatures native to the house are immune to this effect.


If any of your PCs have a bonus against Fear effects, this gives them a chance to actually use it. :)
