Hello, everyone!

My usual gaming party is scattered to the 4 winds; 2 here in town, 2 in S. Dakota, and 1 in Canada. We get together via Klooge for our (semi-)weekly game. We all run on DSL or cable lines, and I will run the GM version of Klooge, and they then connect to it with the client versions by giving it my IP address (it is a dynamic address, but Klooge tells you what it is so I can send it out to them via messenger or email).

Up until Monday, I was using a USB modem to connect to the net. Then it died on me, and the technician came out and set up the new modem, which is an DSL router jobby(?), the phone plugs into it, then it plugs into my LAN hub and the 3 computers in the house then connect off it into the net.

The problem is, my players can't connect to me anymore for Klooge! I asked the tech if it would be a problem, and he admitted he had no idea as he didn't game on the net. He left the driver disk behind which will install the USB drivers for it and the USB cable for the modem if all else fails, but I'd like to avoid that if I can; with my other USB modem I used Internet Connection Sharing to allow the other 2 comps to connect through my computer, and I noticed an occasional slow down when I'd be playing online and my son would be heavily downloading or some such on his machine.

I've gone into the control screen on the router and tried enabling IP passthrough for my main computer, and the client I was testing with here in town still couldn't connect; and I've tried going to the NAT screen and setting Port Forwarding for the port that Klooge uses by default and that didn't help :( I haven't tried doing both at the same time however.... just occurred to me, though I have no idea if it would help :)

Anyone familiar with working through a router that can give me a hand here? Got a game coming up this weekend, so you'd have a big helping of thanks from me if you can help :)

Hmmm, ok..let me see if I have this straight. You have a DSL Modem coming into your house, which is connected to a router, which is hooked up to a hub, and you are connected to the hub?

So like:
DSL Modem -->Router-->Hub-->You

What IP are you getting from Klooge is it a 192.168.x.x or 10.10.x.x you have a "fake" IP address. However, I'm guessing you know this since you mentioned NAT..NAT is a pain in the behind. If you want your real IP try here
http://www.dslreports.com/whois and click on the button labeled "My Public IP". That IP is what you need to send out, if you have been..well, I'm not sure.

So you've tried setting a static IP(within your DHCP pool) on your machine that is hosting and have the router port forward to it?

what port does Klooge use? I hope it is not 80.

Elaborating on what gariig said...your router probably has an integrated firewall that blocks all ports unless you specifically forward them to machines on your LAN. You'll need to find out which port Klooge uses, then set it up to forward connections on that port to the LAN-IP:"Klooge Port" of the machine running Klooge.

Thanks to all for the suggestions; work's been hell the last couple of days, so haven't gotten to play with it any more. Will try later this am and see what happens.
