I avoided the issue of scrolls because it would depend on UMD as a spellcaster c an not automagically cast from scrolls of a higher level than he could cast.

Unless it's a warlock.

Actually, using a scroll that's 1 level higher than they can cast is pretty much 'fails on a 1'. That's pretty reliable to me, unless they have 20 and try to use them all.

Or just use Necklaces of fireballs, rather cheap for its use in this case.

Anyhow, if not then a super-archer with endurance should be able to outshoot them I guess... Farshot, run, farshot run, farshot run. He would definantly need that endurance though
