Need ideas for an interesting Necromacncer type

I ran a fellow a few years back who'd had an interesting take on the whole "necromancer" thing. A patriot and nobleman from Karrnath (Eberron nation who, overwhelmed during a large war, resorted to raising dead to supplement their armies), Ulrich was originally a martial fellow with a fondness for horses. Prior to the game start, he'd had a crippling accident that nearly destroyed his left leg, and left him with a profound limp - enough, anyway, that he couldn't reasonably take care of himself in a melee anymore. Disheartened that he could no longer serve his country, he turned to necromancy, and the game started about there. In his case, he actually was Lawful Evil, because he could get extremely vicious about protecting his homeland - torture and the like didn't make him bat an eye if he felt it was necessary.

Fun guy to run, and I still wish the game hadn't ended early. In any case, while I'll admit it's not really optimal, it had a lot of flavour behind it. A LN character could, perhaps, lean towards necromancy after an accident as a source of potential healing?

Man, Darkness, you used to be so cool. Besides, you don't get a say in your own nickname; that's the nature of the beast.
This is true - a friend of mine years ago tried to give himself a nickname. If I recall, he suggested that he be called "Sticks" because he played the drums. Another friend said, "You want a nickname? Well, you're 'Boner!'" And on that day over 15 years ago, Jason ceased to exist and was replaced by Boner. Be careful, Darkness, be careful!
