Need ideas for Con Game - Large Creatures & Reach

Hey all, I have submitted to run a game at DunDraCon (SF Bay Area CA) in February. It is going to be for high-level characters (approx 16th) and the main driving theme is large creatures and the fun of reach. (for those that may be attending you may want to stop reading now)

I have until early January to make any changes to level or the write up, so I’m not tied down to anything.

Its going to be 3.5 only, so as of now that will include Core Rules, The Complete Warrior & Draconomicon.

My plan is to have the party summoned to a different world that has some major problem they need help with.

The opening fight will be as they appear in a summoning circle about 100-150 feet from a castle surrounded by the summoning cleric/mages and a circle of warriors holding off an attacking group of ogres. (more like an army that will not really run out of forces) The first thing they will need to do is as a group get to the castle along with the warriors and the casters. (the idea here is for them to survive and get to the castle not stop the attack)

They will then be healed and the problem explained.

This is where I have run into a wall, I can’t seem to get past. I know I want to have the fights be against large or larger creatures with reach, but would prefer it not "just" be a serries of fights.

So what kinda cool ideas does this spark for you?
