Need name for an Angel - anyone familiar with Hebrew or Ancient Hebrew?

I was looking for a name in Hebrew (or better yet, Ancient Hebrew for those familiar with it) for an Angel. Just like Miykael (Michael) means "Who is like God", I'm looking for the closest possible thing to a name that means "God will destroy" in the sense of "obliterate, annihilate, sweep clean".

Is there anyone who could point me in the right direction? I am afraid that I cannot read Hebrew lettering, and every time I find an online translator to play with, I get the literal Hebrew wording, which unfortunately does not help with the pronunciation. Any help is appreciated.

Can you get access to an LDS Bible Dictionary?

Angel names

Apollyon/Abaddon(Destroyer) Guardian of the abyss, featured in Revelations 9.11.

Apragsin A divine messenger appointed by God to the sword.

Hasmed Angel of annihilation and one of the five angels of punishment that Moses encountered in heaven.

Katzfiel An angelic Prince of the sword and guard of the sixth heaven. Katfiel's sword emits lightening.

Tzadkiel Angel of divine justice.

Many more there besides.

I'm not an expert in ancient Hebrew, but try the following ones:

Abaddon - means "Destroyer" (Apollyon is Greek, BTW)

Quemu'el or Kemuel - according to some Jewish accounts, he is the leader of the Angels of Destruction (no idea on the meaning of the name)

Samkiel - the leader of the aforementioned Angels of Destruction according to other texts

Hope it helps...

let's say: Charamiel

2 Undergrad and 3 Graduate level semesters of Biblical Hebrew lead me to agree with weiknarf. But I had a "C" average in Hebrew, so I might not be the one to ask.

You know, you might actually want to go with Nehael. Neha, while isn't anywhere close to hebrew, does sound like it shares a root with Nihilism; and el means God in hebrew.

Alternatively just peruse your Blake and pick something that sounds cool.

'cuz Blake totally roxx0rz j00.

I used an anagram method. Using the letters of my last name, I was able to come up the name "Gadodel". (This is one of my old sign in names...or sin! :heh: ) I am grossly unfamiliar with Hebrew. However, what I came up with is this:

"Gad": 'God'
"od": 'Oath'
"el": 'Messenger' or 'Servant'

Thus:

"Gadodel": "The Highest Power's Sworn Servant".

Well, it sounds cool...to me. :heh:
