Need some melee DPS advice

HiddenLineage

First Post
So, I want to make a Drow dual wield melee character...but all I've done up till now is casters, and I have no idea what I'm doing. Does anyone have some advice on builds?

What book is Warblade from? I'll take a look at it.

Trying to find a build all the way from base to prestige classes.

So far I've seen where it could start with either Fighter or Ninja(Maybe Rogue).

I'll dip levels into a caster if I have to to meet the requirements for the PrC.

Another question. I know that with 2h weapons, as the BAB rises you get more attacks. How does it work with dual wielding weapons? Do you just get the extra attacks with your mainhand, of with your offhand too?

Also, would I need higher Str or Dex for dual wielding?

You must spend additional feats to gain additional attacks.

If I recall correctly... Two Weapon Fighting reduces the penalties, Imp. 2wf gives gives you a 2nd bonus attack, Greater 2wf gives you a 3rd bonus attack, and at Epic levels, Perfect 2wf gives you as many attacks with your off hand as you get with your main hand.

However, let's say you just picked up two weapon fighting and were a level 20 fighter...

you'd get four attacks with your main hand, and one attack with your offhand.

However, if you were a 20th lvl ranger you would get the bonus feats automatically and you'd nab all the way up to greater two weapon fighting... getting you four attacks with your main hand and three attacks with your offhand. Lots and lots of dice rolls. Keep in mind though, that these additional attacks become increasingly less likely to land so you're going to whiff. A lot.

I've been looking at the Tome of Battle. I think I'm gonna be going with Swordsage...should I prestige out at a certain time, or go the full 20 with it?

Swordsage just seems to be better with Dualwielding than Warblade, not to mention double the maneuvers provides much more range for fighting.

Fighter 2 vs Ranger 2

I would do fighter 2. Ranger gives better fluff, but the "combat style" restricts the armor you can wear. As a warblade you probably want medium armor.

Warblade vs Swordsage

Main point: Look at the base attack bonus at 20th level:
Warblade +20 / +15 / +10 / +5
Swordsage +15 / +10 / +5

That by itself says it must be warblade for dual wielding melee.

Add to that:
Warblade medium armor, d12 hit dice
Swordsage iight armor, d8 hit dice

That is just my 2 cents tho.

I've looked over both Swordsage and Warblade, and also looked over the abilities.

The difference in BAB is made up for in their maneuvers/stances known/readied ratios.

When it comes down to the abilities it's..

Evasion vs Uncanny Dodge
Disciple Focus vs Battle Skill
Dual Boost vs Stance Mastery

Then on the Swordsage's side there's Quick to Act +1/2/3/4/5, AC Bonus, and Sense Magic

Warblade has Battle Clarity, Weapon Aptitude(Which is duplicated by one of the Disciplines), Battle Ardor, Battle Mastery, and Bonus Feats.

The Discipline for Dual Wielding seems to be Tiger Claw, which both have access to.

Warblade has Iron Heart and White Raven, Swordsage does not.

Swordsage has Shadow Hand, Desert Wind, and Setting Sun. Warblade does not.

Where one lacks, the other seems to take up the slack.
