As the grizzled warrior Nekokaburi stands waiting for an opponent, he finds himself approached by Samidare, a young martial artist of some renown.

“Nekokaburi-san,” the younger warrior states with a slight bow, “I have heard that your master Rathan has dissolved his dojo to pursue the path of the Light. My Iron Hand Dojo has just opened its doors, and I gather that your Blackfist Style has much in common with my own philosophies. If you desire to further your studies along this path, I would be pleased to have you as a student.”

"I would be honored to join the Iron Hand Dojo and strengthen my Blackfist techniques, however I could not bring honour to your dojo by joining until I have regained my own, Samidare-sensei. I will accept your offer once I have defeated my next opponent, and will come to you eagerly in good standing."

Nekokaburi bows low before Samidare.

A young samurai in green and gold meets Nekokaburi on the road. “Ah, Nekokaburi-sama!” he cries. “It is a pleasure to see you again. I wish to thank you again for presiding over my first duel. How may I be of service to you?”

Haru flushes with embarrassment. “I have heard of your duel of style with the villainous Shou Ren,” he replies, “and I fear that my feeble efforts cannot compare with your own, Nekokaburi-sama. Furthermore, I have certain duties to my Clan that I must pursue; I may not tarry too long in this place, and matches of style tend to consume more time than I can spare from my obligations. Nonetheless, I am willing to join in such a contest, if it is brief and of no greater complexity than a beginner such as myself can comprehend.”

(OoC translation: I’m willing to do style if it’s a short speed match and if we limit the length of our moves somehow, to a certain number of words or lines apiece. I fear I haven’t the energy to churn out the page-long screeds we had going during our last style match. :) If that’s unsatisfactory, let me know and I’ll make way for another opponent.)

"This is the time for the ritual insults, yes, Nekokaburi-sama? So shall I say this to you: I find your sibling to be spoiled, your bedroom to be drab, and your person's discipline to be absent."

(OoC: I would prefer the strategy match, but I'll go with style if you really want it... but you'll have to win the insult round. ;) )

"Indeed it is, Haru-san. A warrior must be strong not only in body and style, but also quick of mind. A scathing insult shows a keen aptitude for strategy, no matter how unseemly it may be."

"<b>I find your people to be like unto a tart, your keep to be foul-smelling, and your sword to be quaint.</b>"

"And now, Kitsune Haru-san, we await one of the Ancient Masters."

Edit: OoC Comments

<font color="gray">OoC: Style may not be so bad between two martial artists, but we'll see... I couldn't really commit to a style match at the moment in good conscience either. :)

Thanks for letting me play the experienced one in the exchange, too, BTW.
