Neutral Outsiders

Although I don't think it's been stated in canon, I would assume that neutral gods make great use of the standard elementals, elemental weirds, and other personifications of nature.

The Elemental Princes might make noises about gods making use of their elementals, but I'm not sure how much print the Elemental princes have seen since the original Fiend Folio.

Good gods are served by celestials, evil gods by fiends. So what are neutral gods served by? Are there any neutral outsiders (apart from the LN ones)? Or would a true neutral deity be served by celestials, fiends and inevitables?

Using Planescape as a basis (as it's the only reliable information on this topic), Gods are served by proxies that are often taken from the ranks of their petitioners (the souls of the dead that worshipped the deity in life). The deity has the ability to make anyone a proxy, though, which is why you will often find Celestials in the employ of Good deities. A god can also turn their proxies into pretty much whatever form they wish. For example, Lolth turns many of her petitioners into Yochlols, which otherwise would not even exist. She could do this to a dead drow petitioner or to a dedicated Balor, it doesn't really matter. They're gods.

Ah, Shemmy? Aren't you forgetting someone? I've never seen you omit a mention of the ghereleths in a fiend-centric thread like this before, even if it's only to mock them.

Not that it makes much difference in this discussion, though... Deific he may be, but Apomps isn't really the sort to share.

I'm sitting in the dark with the curtains pulled, wearing sunglasses and wincing at any stray light. My eyes got dilated today, so I'm blaming that for my omitting the 'leths here. :)

Perhaps we could come up with another group of neutrally aligned Outsiders that do involve themselves with gods as divine servants.

But what would we call them?

Equitables
Neutres

any suggestions?

Ooooh... ::wince:: You've got my sympathy, Shemeska. I've been through that often enough to know how much it sucks. It could be worse- you're at least able to sit at home in the dark. They made me go to school dilated once, and that was heinous.

Hope you feel better in the morning.

Oh I'm fine now, it wore off around 10 hours later, but I dropped by my lab an hour after the eye appointment to feed some cell cultures and it was heck. Bright sun, bright overhead lamps inside and I was walking around with those dorky 'shades' they give you at the doctors so you can manage to drive home afterward. ;)

And speaking of neutral outsiders, I had a PC Cuprilach Rilmani who passed himself off as a human cleric of Sutekh. The others PCs, and the players themselves, didn't A) realize the PC wasn't human or a cleric, nor B) realize till after the fact that Sutekh was an aspect of Set. :)

Where does it say Apomps is a god? I thought he was some sort of non-divine-but-still-powerful planar being.
