I'm really disappointed that psionic classes won't be in PHB2. Couldn't they have released the 'missing' arcane and divine classes on the DDI?

For me this means I won't consider switching to 4E until much later than initially expected. Without the Eberron Campaign Setting and Psionic Classes I won't make the switch. See you again in 2010...

On the positive side, this means, I'm going to have enough time to play another 3E campaign, like SCAP.

It kinda bugs me that it's ARCANE, DEVINE and primal ...
I mean I was hoping for 3 entirely new power sources, with arcane devine and martial left for splatbooks.

Hopefully they add things new enough to not seem completely redundant.

But if they did that, then I fear they would have to release a second splat book of those power sources sooner rather than later, to cover things for the new classes, since they obviously didn't consider all possibilities when they first introduced them in a splatbook.

Yes I'm looking at Complete Mage as an example where they ended up putting so much Warlock stuff in because Complete Arcane lacked supplementary stuff when it first introduced the Warlock.

I think completing the rest of the arcane and divine classes in PHB2 works better, since Arcane Power will more likely have supplementary material for the Bard or Swordmage, rather than waiting till Arcane Power 2.

The PHB 1 includes 4 Martial (covering all the roles but controller); it only includes 2 each of the Arcane and Divine. Arcane is missing defender and leader; Divine is missing controller and striker.

I suspect we will not see an arcane leader, nor a divine striker (and that arcane will double up on controller, and divine double up on defender).

The Artificer in the playtest article is an Arcane Leader.
The Bard which is coming out in PHB2 has been confirmed as an Arcane Leader a bunch of times. In fact between the PHB1, PHB2, FR Player's Guide, and Eberron Player's Guide we'll end up with something like 6 arcane classes.

Why do you expect that there won't be a divine striker, out of curiosity? An Inquisitor would make a quite good divine striker, I think (and others as well).

Don't tell me you're complaining that they chose to put in Druids and Barbarians over Psy...??
I will. Don't care a whit about barbarians. I suspect 4e druids won't float my boat (I've always used them as animists with a hint of arcane).

On the other hand, I've always loved both psionics and shadow-based magic.
