New Adult Swim -- What do you think?

Blech. I've yet to find an AS-original show that I even remotely like. (And this coming from a huge fan of the Boondocks comic strip.)

The only shows they have that I like are Family Guy and Futurama--two of the shows that aren't original to AS.

Going off on a brief tangent, I had no idea until recently that Green Lantern from Justice League, Jack from Samurai Jack, Static from Static Shock, Black Vulcan from Harvey Birdman, and Hermes from Futurama are all voiced by the same guy, Phil LaMarr. Damn, that guy is versatile and gets around.
Yep, Phil is one talented guy. He used to be a regular on Mad TV, too. :)

I watch Adult Swim just about every night. Not because I'm really into it, but because there's just not anything else on that entertains me.
That about sums up my AS too.
I don't care for most of their "homegrown" cartoons (Mouse, Squid, ATHF, Hair). ATHF disturbs me, and I just don't have any interest at all in the other ones. Except Harvey Birdman. I drop everything for Harvey.
ATHF is dependant on my mood, but is the only one I like, Mouse, Squid, they're horrible. The detective one is bland too. Harvey Birdman is so-so. Robot Chicken is also great.

I think that The Boondocks is the highest-quality animated series to come out this side of the Pacific. The animation is worlds better than everything else, and while it does have a great deal of "offensive" material, it's always used as satire, not just thrown out there randomly to offend people like Family Guy does. The show has a point, and that's what matters.
See, for myself, I found the viewpoints to be stereotypical and bland, they don't bring anything to the table as far as making a point for me. But, besides all that, it's simply not funny. I've watched only 3 episodes, and not once did I crack a smile. I'm not hating the show for it's viewpoints, it doesn't make me mad or anything... I just wonder why it's around as entertainment? IOW, I'm not offended by it, I simply find no value in it.

The only thing about The Boondocks I really dislike is the 30-second "bumps" before each episode where the Adult Swim staff sucks up to Aaron McGruder, the show's creator, like a bunch of big sycophants. Bleh.
The cards used to be funny, now they've evolved to some place where they seem too ego driven. They serve no purpose anymore IMO.

Futurama: The Boondocks may be better-drawn and better-written, but Futurama is just so much more good-natured. Out of the American-made shows on AS, I like Futurama best. It's always a hoot.
Futurama is probably my favorite cartoon, but I've seen it so often, it's kind of pointless to watch it again.
American Dad: I've seen very little of this show, but from what I can tell it's just a politically-pointed retread of Family Guy with slightly different characters and a different premise.
AD has had a couple okay eps, but the voice's are already familiar from FG, and neither show has a wide variety of voices. It's gotten very noticeable.
Fullmetal Alchemist: My favorite show on the network. Funny, poignant, occasionally thought-provoking, and always entertaining. The show is gold. Transmuted from lead, even.

InuYasha: I dig this show, but only when the plot is moving forward. Most of the time, it's bogged down with episodic "filler" that does nothing to move the story along.
I liked both of these, but the pace was too slow, so I downloaded the episodes and watched through the end of the series. Seshomaru was my favorite, and stories involving him were too sporadic to wait for AS's schedule.

If I had to find another thing to say about AS, it'd be the same problem as a lot of stations. They move stuff so much I just give up trying to track it down anymore.

Of the current Adult Swim lineup, I only watch Samurai Champloo. I'm not a fan of the "comedy" shows, because they fail to make me laugh.

Adult Swim is my church.

Harvey Birdman is genius.

Squibillies is so far beyond mere genius that the light from genius won't reach Squidbillies for another 30 years.

Welcome to Eltingville
was awesome, only because I know every single guy in the show. So accurate it hurts.

How much do I love Aqua Teens? Well, my wife has Meatwad tattooed on her big toe. So I can talk to him.

I despise all their home-grown comedy shows. I do like Family Guy and Futurama, but they did not make those. All their comedy shows revolve around stupid violence that has no point. I really only watch Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell, and Evangelion regularly.

I'm a Sunday Comedy Night fan myself, although the latest crop of shows hasn't done much for me. Squidbillies, after almost a year of build-up, is just kinda boring. Stroker and Hoop is alright but not really appointment viewing (although that Santa episode was pretty funny). I watched Boondocks the other night (never watched since I hate the strip) because I heard Samuel L. Jackson and Charlie Murphy were going to be in it, but didn't chuckle once. 12 Oz. Mouse is just past my weirdness tolerance level.

Perfect Hair Forever and Robot Chicken are the best, though. I've made a hobby of trying to figure out what Coiffio's accent is supposed to be - Cajun with speech impediment, maybe? And I hope that new Seth Green sitcom is DOA so he has to go back to cranking out Robot Chicken eps.

I am not going to go out of my way to watch Adult Swim until they start showing new episodes of the Venture Brothers, which is easily the best thing they produce. ATHF is alright, but I've seen most of it. Ditto Robot Chicken. And Squidbillies, Tom Goes To The Mayor and the like are actually little nuggets of anti-humor. Every episode produced makes the entire world less funny.

Demiurge out.
