I think it's highly likely that anything which was horribly broken or bad got yoinked before the public playtesting ever started. After all, the designers and developers at WotC are professionals. I'd fully expect them to have picked up anything that "wasn't good at all" or "needed going back to the drawing board" very early on.

Anything else is just "needs some work."

Well, part of the problem is marketing the new product.

After all, if we trust them to handle this now, then all the 'problems' of 3e wouldn't be here in the first place. ;)

Just something that hit me while looking at the poll and seeing Warforged.

We are going to see a setting a year. We are also going to see a new set of core books each year. Does anyone else think that (at least some of) the info in the core books is going to be tied to that year's setting.

The year we have Eberron as the setting book we get Warforged, Shifters and such as new races, artificers as a new class, some monsters in the MM that fit Ebberon. The info would be presented as standard core, but the Setting book may lean on that info.

Just a thought.

I think DMs will be able to handwave it to suit their preferences -- me, I like the idea of angels shifting back and forth between a friendly and a crap-your-pants appearance -- and I imagine we'll see Hallmark angels in an OGL product.
Y'know what that reminds me? Zeus' true form in Greek mythology was so awesome, it'd desintegrate any mortal onlookers. That's what happened with the mother of, iirc, Dionysus (or was it Hermes)?

I don't mind hype engines... done right they can be great. What I don't like is the idea of paying for a preview. Sure, some people are interested in designer notes and will grab this books off the shelf... Me, I will skim it in my FLGS and then watch the discussions here :)

As to the Warforged, IMO it should be in the initial MM, allowing those of us who have Eberron Campaigns to convert to 4E immediately while not forcing the 'living construct' as a PC into other settings.
- But, if it is in the PHB, I would like to remind those who don't want one in there setting that the right response is 'Rule 0' :)

The Cyclops appears for the first time since 2nd Edition
Well, no, as it was detailed for 3.5 in Shining South. (Yeah, yeah, I can hear 'certain people' howling "FR product!". Whatever.)

Sounds promising, though, that actual details are going to be coming out very soon.

... and, as mentioned above, Deities & Demigods.

Gelatinous cubes are in.

The list of my 4th edition worries grows ever smaller.

Also, my reasons to buy Deserts of Desolation minis have increased beyond zero.
