Not in Ezekiel...
And Islamic angels routinely have wings covered in eyes. Creepy.
Okay, got it. Peacock feathers in wings!

Not to dip into religion too deep, but Lot offered up his virgin daughters to the townsfolk that showed up at his door wanting to have sex with the angels that came to see Lot. The entire passage implies that the angels resemble handsome human men.

At any rate, the point of "first time since 2nd Edition" is innacurate.

Do we have an exact quote? Was it actually "first time since 2nd edition" or "In the Monster Manual for the first time since 2nd edition?"

With the amount of out-of-context quotes that fly around, something makes me suspect the latter is the case rather than the former.

From the article:

Third, this set reveals some monsters making their debut in 4th Edition. The Cyclops appears for the first time since 2nd Edition and looks fantastic, and the Fire Archon unleashes the first of a new elemental force on unsuspecting adventurers everywhere.

As we determined, it has appeared since 2e.

It is possible though that he meant, first time since 2e, that it has appeared in the Monster Manual. It would fit in context. Not necessarily, but, it is possible.
