Not sure what you are sighing at, ledded. Do you want the greatsword to do more damage or weigh as much as the katana?

Well, I dont want to start yet another flame war over the historical accuracy of games, just suffice it to say that I sigh because I'd like to see a few of these game designers actually pick up a few things that they try to model and toss 'em around a bit. I know some of them do, but I know others that design games with swords and whatnot in them without ever picking up a *real* one (the $125 stainless steel-and-plastic ones don't count).

But, it is a game, and things that I dont agree with that designers do I generally just overwrite in my book and get on with life (and, of course, annoy the other guys in my group with, who mostly dont care how accurate the weapons stuff is).

Part of the problem is looking in the wrong places for information. You can do a good-faith search to find out how much a greatsword should have weighed, historically, and come away with 15lbs. if you're not looking in the right places.

But yes, having a katana and a claymore of equal quality do the same damage is a bit silly. I told my players to use D&D-equipment rules whenever necessary. Axes should KILL you on a crit, so that x3 is not a bad idea.

I like the grenade-mount, though. But it's single-shot only. Are grenade-mounts in real life single-shot or semi-automatic? Or are grenade-mounts not in real life at all, and I'm pathetically using Half-Life as my basis for reality?

When in doubt, ask Google. Here's the scoop, straight from the U.S. Army.

edit: As for automatic launchers, the same web site describes the MK19-3 Grenade Machine Gun.

Heh. Funny. You just get back to yer visio toilets and sticker-peeling, and leave us normal people our own obsessive-compulsive disorders. ;^)

Thanks for the link Len, I've been out so long I had forgotten the stats for the 203. I guess my beloved M110A1 is gone from the inventory ~sniff~
