First Post
Hi all!

So what did you all get this week? I've got the following:

Aquaman #11: This issue wasn't quite as horrible as the past few. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the change in creative team in issue #13.

Avengers #71: Well, the big hoopla over the sex scene didn't make me enjoy this issue any less. A solid story about Hank's and Jan's relationship. I like it.

Captain Marvel #15: Interesting build up for large scale cosmic mayhem. It was a fun issue.

Lucifer #43: Another fun read as the struggle for the throne of God continues with much chaos. ;)

Solus #7: A very funny issue. Solusandra goes to a world where the sigil-bearer is a fortuneteller/pyshologist with groovy New-Age garb.

That's it for now. Still reading.

Hasta!

Nothing, if I went every week I'd spend as much money on gass as I do on comics.

Keep the threads coming though.

Some of those titles (like Sigil, Meridian etc.) simply
have reached the end of their planned runs. I cry for
the titles that haven't... like Ruse. I'll miss Ruse. It's
just such a kewl title!

Picked up a two-month backlog of books yesterday. I started reading with Astro City:Local Heroes #4. Great story, but I wanted to scream when I reached the "to be continued" on the last page, as we had been told this mini-series would all be solo issues. The problem is that this issue was so good I don't want to wait for the next issue.

Saw that "1602" was up to issue #3, and he no longer had the first two issues. Picked it up anyway, commenting about being disappointed that the others were sold out. The shop owner said "Hold on, let me see what I can do." He quickly found me a #2 that he had put aside for someone who never showed up. It took him a lot longer to find an issue #1 (I think he gave me one he was saving for himself). It's great to find a store owner who cares for his regular customer. My wife (kriskrafts) is big into Shakespeare/Elizabethan era, and will probably get to read it first.

My subscription also had in it 2 issues of Ironman, 2 issue of Exiles, and a Knights of the Dinner Table. I also picked up isses #1 and #2 of the new Teen Titans series, as I've been reading the older Teen Titans stories to my kids and they are enjoying it.

Well, today I'm heading over to my comic store to pick up my reads:

Nightwing - Wrapping up almost 7 years of NW with issue 82. Now that Grayson is settled in as defender of Bludhaven, I am stopping this one. Losing Greg Land as an artist somewhat cooled me to NW, even though it's my favorite character.

JLA - I'll just finish reading the White Rage saga, then cancelling this one off. Joe Kelly didn't do it for me. Wonder Woman and Batman? What the--!? Plus, he totally disregarded other issues, like having Billy Batson turn into Captain Marvel in front of the whole JSA (it's a biiiiig secret Marvel is really a kid). Plus Doug Mahnke's art isn't Bryan Hitch's...

JSA - Once Princes of Darkness ends with issue 50, I'm also letting this one go. Great read and all that, but I want to try new stuff. But it was nice to see the Golden Agers getting the respect they deserve.

Sojourn - The BEST fantasy comic out there. No weird magic-technology or such things, just two archers crisscrossing the continent trying to put together an artifact that can spell the doom of an undead tyrant and his horde of monstrous trolls. Plus, Greg Land rocks on toast!

These series I'm picking up for the first time:

Outsiders - Ah, my Nightwing fix... I'm still bummed about the death of a favorite Titan in Graduation Day, but I want to try the new Nightwing/Arsenal series.

Teen Titans - Very curious about this one, since I'm a fan of the Wolfman-Perez Titans and of Geoff Johns.

I wasn't crazy about the White Rage story, but you might want to wait and give the current Trial by Fire arc a try. It's Kelly's best work on the JLA by a long way.

The only comic I picked up this week was Superman/Batman #3. Great series so far--I can't wait for the next issue.

The only monthly comic I've picked up recently was the Lee/Loeb Batman storyline. Which I enjoyed for the most part (Lee is one of my favorites), but the ending was a bit disappointing.

I bought tons of monthly titles in the past, but lately I've mainly been buying TPB collections. I like the TPB format better than the ad-infested pamphlet format.

There's a new Blade of the Immortal TPB which I'll pick up soon. And since Nightwing was mentioned above, I recently picked up all of the Dixon/McDaniel Nightwing TPBs as well. That's some very nice work, and I love McDaniel's kinetic style.

I only buy graphic novels and trade paper backs these days, but I am buying them at such a rate that I could actually post a weekly list of new ones.

This week: Blankets, Pulpatoon Pilgramage, and Pistol Whip.

I too mainly am a trade guy and I don't even but those
that regurarly, but I do download a lot of old issues (you
can't get any back issues here).

Currently I've been reading the first 150 issues of the
Post-Crisis Flash. Damn, good old fashioned superheroics
with a dash of angst and soap. It's much much better
than I expected, especially the Waid run.
