I hope that's "lead" pronounced "leed", not "led", otherwise I think you're out of a job

So, lead as in "big boss" and lead as in "Pb on Mendeleiev's chart" are not pronounced the same ? No wonders I'm better at writing English than at speaking it.

The pics look good. I would have like to see a pic of some of the new wotc mini's next to some reaper, old ral partha stuff, and game workshop stuff. For scale refernce. I have been gaming for 20 years, I have lots of old figs. if this new stuff is too big, i won't be getting any.

Has anyone seen the April issue of InQuest Gamer. It has an article on page 28 that says that Games Workshop subsidiary Sabertooth Games is releasing "The Lord of the Rings Tradable Miniatures Game" this Christmas. The set will include prepainted miniatures.

Interestingly enough, there is a line in the article that says "The 40-millimeter scale figures will set up and play right out of the box and will of course, be tradable with different levels of rarity."

Has anyone heard about this? Is this also a typo or are these miniatures really going to be 40mm? I found nothing on Sabertooth Games' website. Also the article didn't say what the prices are going to be or the number of figures in a pack.

First, if you use miniatures, you like to have miniatures that correspond to the monsters you're using - a possible result of that is that the monsters you use are determined by the miniatures you possess.

Thus, a random selection of miniatures expands the range of monsters available in the game!

Actualy, no. The range of monsters I have at my disposal at any one time to throw at my party is quite limited... limited by level, area, season, party makeup, party tactics, and my game world. I can't just tear open a pack, get a Beholder mini, and say "Ok, my party is going to face beholders soon!" when the party is level 1.... nor can I rip open the pack and say "Cool! A Pegasus! Party is gonna run into that next session" when there is no logical reason for them to encounter a pegasus.

Different thought:

WotC might not do "orc boxes"... but what about "module boxes"? IE, a box that has all the minis you would need (X goblins, X kobolds, a small white dragon, etc) to run the Citadel module...

Rob of WotC, give this man a job!

EDIT: and now that I think about it, what about a package deal? All the minis you'd need (what's the maximum number of gobs in a room at once?) a couple of custom double-sided, 8-panel, one-inch-square battlemats (like in Dragon of late) and the advenure for what? 25 or 30 bucks? I think I'd buy something like that. Throw in a rare mini with card for collectors or something... maybe this could revitalize WotC adventures...

Well, after seeing the pictures I'm going to change my rather vehement negative view to cautiously optimistic. Not that anyone should care. :)

The pictures are horribly out of focus but what I can see looks to be ok. 'Specially after I take the drybrush to them. So, we'll see.

What we got here?

Ok, what can people make out in those pics.

I see the bottom of a minatour, the back of a mind flayer, the back of somethign green with a bow (yuan-ti? medusa?), something unpainted i can't make out, a monk, no idea, a trog, somesort of human woman fighter.

next pic: earth elemental, something, paladin (with dumb lockwood shield), something, fire elemental, werewolf.

Any ideas about the somethings?

I think the archer in the top picture is indeed a medusa. The unpainted one between her and the monk looks vaguely like it could be an elf. No idea on the next one. The one you call troglodyte is more likely a kuo-toa. Behind the kuo-toa, probably a goblin. Left of the female warrior, the painted one is obviously a wight, while the unpainted is probably Ember.

In the bottom pic... well, can't say anything, really. The picture is too blurry.
