D&D 5E New D&D Survey, with some in-depth setting questions

I voted dark sun just for the psionics, it also had a lot of my video game choice at the end which was strange to me but appreciated.
I was disappointed that I did not get to answer questions regardng Dark Sun as the first boxed set is my favorite D&D published setting. I ended up choosing homebrew created by the DM as my favorite although the question did not take into account that my choice was very conditional on the DMs choice of what to include and exclude.

hence why I did not put homebrew as my first as I doubted it would give me what I wanted.

For me remembering the month was easy. I was there when my friend received a Basic set for Christmas.

The question I found funny was how long after being introduced to D&D did you first play (I think there was one also about buying your first product after being introduced to the game). For myself, it was about six months after being introduced that I began playing. The day I was first introduced to D&D, I was called to dinner before I got to make a character and was then told we were moving in a few days. Also, the version tha I first played was not the version of D&D to which I was first introduced.
For me, the conceptual introduction, through video games and magazine articles & ads, came years and years before I actually played in college.

I have come to really dislike both the versatility and power of casters in D&D.
With regards to versatility, I would prefer more narrow casting base classes or the base classes having a very small list of shared spells and most of the spells split among subclasses. I would also go through the 5e spell list, drop the majority of spells introduced in 1e FR, 2e, and 3e and then find more common fantasy spells from supplements and place them in a new PHB.

As for power, I really wish D&D would back to where, according to some of Gygax's players, 7-9th level spells were not intended for PCs, but for NPCs and included for completness. I would love to see the game designed around full casters getting 6th level spells at 18th level with 7-9th levels spells and rules for higher level NPC casters to the DMG (assuming the default game went to 20th level). As for players getting 7-9th level spells, they could be moved to an Epic level book covering PC rules above level 20.

I feel D&D has gone too far in Power, Frequency, and Versatility as the base assumption of the game.

I always felt that fantasy worlds were you only go big on one of the 3 axis OR go big on 2 while emphasizing the lack of the third gives the setting a backbone to grab players and DMs as characters attempt to use what they have to make up for what they lack.

Lol. the first official D&D computer games (as opposed to the earlier licensed video game for Mattel's Intellivision) was released about ten years after I started playing...man, I suddenly feel old.

It is interesting to see they notice some players would rather to use a mash-up version of previous worlds.

I wonder about their future actions if most of players will answer they are playing Fortnite. I say it seriously. D&D in Fortnite are possible as skins. It would perfect to promote Spelljammer.

My favorite races are the aasimar (the beaitiful swan treated like a little ugly duckling because tielflings are too popular), giths (focused into psionic powers) and warforged (because these can be roleplayed like autist personalities). My favorite settings are Dark Sun, Ravenloft and homebrew with elements from others. I love the creative freedom and to can cause surprise even when the players know all the secrets of the lore thanks fandom wikis.

They asked me the reason I never played D&D, and it is because it arrived to my land in the 90's and I was the one geek in the class, nobody to can with it, and later I was too busy with the studies.

I "play" Idle of the Forgotten Realms, but only because it was free thanks Epic gift. I don't enjoy it very much. Only I play Fortnite because there are not enough memory space in my computer. I played Newerwinter Online until I reached 60 level. I stopped because I felt it was like played Diablo II (and Sacred, other videogame) again after killing the final boss. I tried D&D online, but I didn't feel confortable about where to point to fight.
