New Edition of Creature Collection 1?

I think I read somewhere that it was coming out, couldn't remember when it said it was coming out(or for that matter where I read it at) and that they were gonna clean it up a lot.

Please tell me this is true, I love the Creature Collection, but it does seem a bit rough around the edges and could use a good polishing.

Yes, there is a revised version of the CC1 coming out. As to exactly when...

Cue Nightfall!

What I want to know is if the errata and added section will be available for free download for those who have bought the first edition of the book.

Last I heard it was due out in January. They were going to redo the stat blocks but keep the rest the same. Of course I only heard about it secondhand on these boards.

Nightfall or SSS druid should be able to tell you more specifics.

I also heard(god, I can remember what I read, but I can't remember where I read it! This is pissing me off! ) that the Exemplar is gonna be a PrC now, and some of the creatures are gonna be templates now.

And on another, related note, I was reading thru some review on this site, and may I say that for a book that was made BEFORE the first 3rd edition MM, it's pretty good, it just needs to be reworked a bit to make the stats proper.

Yes, several of the creatures are being converted into templates. The only one that sticks out in my mind right now is the Unhallowed but I know there are more. The Exemplar being a PrC just makes good sense, since that's what it really is.

To answer the question about a free download for the new material, the answer appears to be "no." There's been a lot of discussion about that over on the Sword & Sorcery boards, and the official answer from the company seems to be that there is too much revised and new material to make it available as a download.

Obviously, it's also in the company's financial best interests to have previous buyers pick up the new book, but I can't fault them much for that. This is a business venture, after all.

Personally, even knowing there's a new version coming out, I'm considering buying the current version at an upcoming sale at my local gaming shop. Call me a completist!

I do have CC1, and I won't be buying it again, even an improved version. Call me a not-that-rich.

I'm more or less a "not-that-rich" myself. If my local store didn't have this decent sale coming up, I might not buy the old version. My collection still lacks quite a large number of other books that would be just as worthwhile!

I just skimmed the S&S boards again, and for those who care, it seems the new version may (in addition to fixing the stats) include new artwork and info on the Scarred Lands races.

Of course, I can live without new artwork, and I already have the racial info that came with the Scarred Lands DM Screen...
