New Epic Spell: Awaken the Draconic Soul. Opinions, please.

Since you are dealing 10d6 points of damage to the target (if you cast it on another creature) wouldnt you need to bump the DC up? Actually since transform (seed) doesnt deal damage, wouldn't you have to employ another seed in this spell as well? Backlash damage is dealt only to the caster.

I would just remove the line about dealing a like amount of damage to the target (and dealing 20d6 to the caster if cast on himself....) If it dealt 20d6 to the caster, the DC would be further reduced.

Otherwise the spell looks very nice. Very nicely done.
I put in the 10d6 to the target to represent the trauma of the ritual, but I can see how it could be misused. I'll probably just change it as you suggest, to just 10d6 backlash.

Yeppers- understood the trauma part, but I am just guessing it would require another seed to make it work since transform doesnt deal damage. Might be easier to just drop it and let the spell deal 10d6 backlash to the caster.

On the otherhand, it is kinda cool to traumatize the victim...so perhaps adding another seed isnt such a bad thing. :D

Either way- I like this spell. Very nicely done.

Kinda think the DC is a little low, even for 10k XP loss.

Changing duration to permenant/instantanious should -always- be x5 DC. Perhaps higher for an instantanious duration, as it cannot be disjoined in any way as it is no longer magical.

The transformation seed has a base duration of permanent, so I added the ad hoc x4 modifier to bring it up to Instantaneous. For a Seed without a permanent duration, that would be DC x20 for instantaneous.

The DC can't get much higher for campaign reasons (if it goes up to more than ~70, the NPC who created it couldn't have reliably [take 10] created or cast it). Any suggestions to tweak the DC up by a notch?

Add a life seed. Seriously, you are litterally tampering with the very fabric of nature, playing in the sandbox of the gods, so to speak. Life seed is appropriate from my point of view, anyway.

Just some notes on spellcraft:
Courtious Magocracy grants +2 to both spellcraft and diplomacy checks.
Epic Skill Focus: spellcraft is also a must. Skill focus: Spellcraft is worth it too.
Without items, a level 30 character could feasibly have a +60 bonus to his checks.

Generally, I am running skill items on a bonus^3 * 10(0) scale, with epic bonuses being over 25. So items past 25 are kind of excessive, and generally beyond the reach of, well, most anyone :-)
