First, if you want to be picky, neither the word "enchanting" nor "enchanted" are defined in the glossary, only "enchantment." It would appear that "enchanting" an item does not create an "enchantment," though it may very well be called an "enchanted item."
Though the words "enchant," enchanted," enchanting," and "enchantment all have the same root, they do not mean the same thing, at least in D&D.
Okay, from a less picky viewpoint:
Second, if there is an error, I'd say it is equally likely it is the glossary defintion as it is the repeated "incorrect" use of the word.
