New Heroic Alien Races web enhancement at WotC

C. Baize

First Post
4 new alien races... Cykotek (Cyborgs of many different races), Dhamrin, Medurr, and Sathar.

The only one I'm already familiar with is the Sathar.
Where do the others come from? Alternity?

Looks pretty cool... needed a little editing, though:
'[insert sathar2 copy.jpg about here]'

Interesting that they included the Sathar ships, as well. Great WE!

Yeah, the other three are from Alternity, but some are pretty obscure. The cykotek is fairly well known, the medurr are only from two supplements (and a novel, and are disproportionately popular) and I've never heard of the dhamrin until I downloaded the document.

The Dhamrin are exactly the kind of race I would want into my own Future setting, but the stats are off - either give it a level adjustment or change the racial bonus.

The Sathar are a "heroic race"?

Edit: This is cool (in a gross-out-gore-movie sort of way):

Exploding Nanites: The sathar would rather die than be held
captive by their enemies and tortured into revealing their secrets.
Rather than face such a possibility, every sathar that serves as a
combatant or crew member aboard a starship willingly becomes host
to an exploding nanite colony. If the sathar’s hit points are reduced
to 0, the nanites set off an internal biochemical reaction that causes
its body to explode, showering every creature and object in a 10-foot
radius with viscera.

Whisperfoot wrote this - yay, Darrin!
Thanks Piratecat!

This is one of those things where I was lucky enough to be able to see the D20 Future material before it was released. Like so many others, I saw the vrusk, the dralasite, and the yazirian, and I was like, hey, where's the sathar? So I got with Chris Perkins and Julia Martin and we all decided that a web enhancement was in order! I have to say that it was an absolute blast reinventing the sathar. I was an old Star Frontiers geek, and of course the sathar were one of the seminal races of that game. Chris dug some maps that he had made of sathar ships way back in the day (early '80s), so those turned into the ships that appear in the web enhancement.

The other races were Alternity races that I felt were cool enough to appear in D20 Future, but didn't make the cut. I wish the art could have been included with them, but oh well.

Yay for the SF geeks! The ships are good and fit into something I was working when I rediscovered SF last year.

Good work.
