New Highlander (TV) Movie

Was it just here in Atlanta, or did anyone see a commercial for a book called "Vampire Royalty"? The commercial played Hail to the Chief, showed the White House, and then had a guy in a suit sitting at the desk in the Oval Office. Then the guy snarled in the most ridiculous manner imaginable, revealing his vampiric fangs.

I was hoping I'd see the commercial on YouTube, but no luck yet. It was great.

The movie, though? Crap. Thankfully, I had a group of friends around to heckle it.

This movie was just awful. It had horrible pacing, a nonsensical plot even by highlander standards(at least in the 1st one you could understand why they were killing each other), the worst villain yet, the ending was beyond lame (the resolution was something like 2 minutes) and to top it off the "princes of the universe (amazingly sung in the first movie by Queen of course) sounded like some terrible remake.

Yeah, yeah that was about it. Plot made NO sense, the resolution was like a kick in the testicles, and that was in fact a TERRIBLE cover of a classic rock-out Queen song.
I mean, doesn't Highlander pretty much come with the rights to Princes of the Universe or something? Why have someone do a bad remake?

I watched the Source. It was what I've come to expect from a scifi channel movie.

I wouldn't really even call it a Highlander movie really. It lacked the elements making it such. One, 1, Quickening in the whole thing unless you include the flawed quickening flashback. Immortals working together, for the most part, not chopping heads off. Being set in the future but the Watcher dude not being a really old fart, stuck in a wheel chair or something.

Was it really that awful?

I had to DVR it because we were watching the LSU game and watched the first 40 minutes the next morning before I watched my poor Saints get killed by the Bucs. Yeah, the first 40 minutes were really really really awful. I'm not sure I want to watch the rest of it, that's how bad it is IMO.

It really is a shame too. Highlander has such great potenial. I've only liked the 1st and 4th movies which is strange because Highlander 2 really was never made ( or so I keep telling myself).

I'll agree with the consensus that it was simply awful. I simply cannot think of any redeeming aspects of the movie whatsoever.

I can still remember when you get to the "resolution" and there were a whole pile of irrelevant flashbacks that looked more like a teaser trailer than anything else. I actually checked my DVR to see if it hadn't started playing from the start of the recording again.

It really was worse than H2. Truthfully, that is an amazing accomplishment in it's own way.

I think people had way to high of a standard going into this movie. The first movie was pretty good for a cult classic. The next 3 pretty much sucked. This movie was about what I expected considering it is the 6th movie in the series and unlike the first 4 was not a movie theater release. This was a sci fi channel release and for that type of movie it was kind of enjoyable.

Okay, not actually that good but still good for a sci fi channel release. If they want to use Queen's music do not have someone else cover it. That was bad. The coolest highlander villain is still the Kergan and they keep telling us this since it seems every Highlander movie villain wants to be him. I found that taping the movie and fast forwarding through the stupid parts really helped.

Nope, much longer then that. But as I said I seem to have had much lower expectations then everyone else.

I didn't watch the whole movie, having very little hope for it. But I happened to be channel-surfing and hit it just as [sblock]Joe died[/sblock]. That told me right there that it was at maximum suckage.
