What would the price for an amulet that granted a +2 unnamed or competence bonus to your leadership score be?

Sure, ask something that isn't covered by the rules.

I'd go with bonus squared times 1000gp. So this would be 4000gp.

I'd probably go with 8000, bonus squared x 2. But.....

If it was in my campaign it would either directly affect charisma, or it would have to be something "special". For instance a medal from the king that showed he was a hero of the realm, this medal gives you +2 circumstance bonus to your leadership score.

I guess it's not used for much of anything other then attracting followers so I wouldn't allow much magic to affect people's feelings of you unless it affected your charisma.

The previous replies seem awfully high. A +2 Charisma item is 4K, adds to leadership, skills, and spells (if spontaneous caster). The max I'd say is 4K (for being an unnamed bonus), but I could see going as low as 2K.

I concur with Lord Ben.
I have a hard time imagening a leadership bonus that was not a general Charisma bonus.

There is nothing, except your deeds and Charisma, that gives a bonus to your leadership. It is not a skill or somesuch.

And a competence bonus would be out. Competence bonuses apply to skill checks, saves and attacks.

As for unnamed bonuses... I would never allow an item to be created with an unnamed bonus.

And it is hardly comparable to a +2 Charisma item, rather a +4 Charisma, as the bonus is +2.
And such an item is worth about 16 000 gp.

I'd also have to ask WHY he wants the item? Did he dump his lowest stat into charisma? Did he beat up some old lady for not revealing information, did he do unglorious deeds and now he wants to take leadership at 6th level but because of his penalties he can't get a cohort of anything higher then 4th level so he wants an item that adds a bonus to make up for the way he roleplays his character? Tough luck I say!!

Was he made the leader of the Kings forces due to unswerving bravery in the line of duty but even though he has tons of bonus's for being Kind and friendly, and fair, and generous, etc it still isn't high enough for the flavor and he needs a bonus in order to have the amounts of followers that you think his position deserves? Then I'd say he gets an additional +2 or +4 or whatever for the direct endorsement from the King, but please don't make it into an item that you can buy in order to make up for not being a kind and friendly person (character).

By the rules, a +2 competence bonus item to Leadership would cost you 80gp. 2 x 2 x 20gp = 80gp, or 160gp if the item didn't take up a worn item slot. I don't know where you guys are getting 4,000gp and higher. To me, a +2 bonus to leadership doesn't really mean squat. Just my opinion though.
