but I love the new James Bond trailer. The prospect of fewer gadgets and better writing fills me with joy, and Eva Green doesn't hurt any.
So, he's a poor man's 007: license to kill with a spork. :p

What I miss is the cool names for the Bond Girls of the 60s......Pussy Galore,Mary Goodnight,Octopussy and Miss Goodhead ?

My all time favorite Bond-girl is Xenia Onatopp. The name is perfect and Famke Janssen is half-beautiful in a weird kind of way. -What I'm I saying Famke is strikingly perfect, that's what I mean. Yeah.

Dr Holly Goodhead is a nice name. As is Mary Goodnight.

LIST:
Miss Moneypenny (Entire series)
Jinx (Die Another Day)
Miranda Frost (Die Another Day)
Verity (Die Another Day)
Electra King (The World Is Not Enough)
Dr. Christmas Jones (The World Is Not Enough)
Xenia Onatopp (Goldeneye)
May Day (A View To A Kill)
Octopussy (Octopussy)
Penelope Smallbone (Octopussy)
Bibi Dahl (For Your Eyes Only)
Countess Lisl von Shlaf (For Your Eyes Only)
Dr. Holly Goodhead (Moonraker)
Mary Goodnight (The Man With The Golden Gun)
Solitaire (Live And Let Die)
Tiffany Case (Diamonds Are Forever)
Plenty O'Toole (Diamonds Are Forever)
Irma Bunt (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)
Kissy Suzuki (You Only Live Twice)
Fiona Volpe (Thunderball)
Pussy Galore (Goldfinger)
Rosa Klebb (From Russia With Love)
Honey Ryder (Dr. No) :o

Things to love about Bond:

1. The Bond Women
2. The Bond Cars ... Sunbeam Tiger to Austin Martin DBS
3. Bond Theme songs (mostly)
4. Witty reparte
5. The line, the only one that matters: "Bond ... James Bond."
6. Action. More Action.
7. Q. (Though I agree with gadget tone-down).

This one looks cool, but Connery will remain my favorite Bond.

And and aside ... a personal Bond moment: I'm showing my new boss, who is a sports car nut, my car (an S2000). Top down, he sits in the drivers seat and turns the key, when the CD I have in kicks on, playing ... the Bond theme song. The look on his face was priceless. Great song for a great car.

Not holding out any great hope, I haven't enjoyed a Bond movie since Goldeneye.

The last one was just appalling...I mean, invisible cars? Then he spends all movie running around with lasers and high tech sonic gizmos, but when he hits a chain link fence has to snip it one link at a time with wirecutters. And on top of that, both he and his sidekick have sniper rifles, but are baffled as to how to stop the bady guy getting away from a distance. This is what happens when you spend a millions upon millions on sets, SFX and actors wages, and then spend three bucks fifty on writers...

In theory the invisible car works. Every pixel of it picks up the light surrounding it and transmits it to an opposing pixel on the other side of the car. Pretty cool, in theory.

But then Bond HIDES behind it! You can't hide behind somthing seethru. Stupid.

I liked Guy Pierce, though.

Whuh?

Did you mean Pierce Brosnan, perchance? Guy Pierce has never appeared in a Bond movie in any capacity, to my knowledge...

Guy Pierce is the villain in the last one. Isn't he? ...googling imdb...

...

Wow, I could have sworn it was Guy Pierce. Turns out Gustav Graves was played by one Toby Stephens.

Well, in that case - I liked Toby Stephens.

IIRC, he´s the son of Vanessa Redgrave.

... and there's another cool name, right there!
