Mark, since you're art director - the art you're using for the Hackmaster Basic ad (click past the comic one page) is really evocative. I love that piece. Who painted it?

Believe it or not, the statue part is a photo of a small demon statue that Jolly made (or bought - I can't remember at the moment). He happened to see it sitting in his window at home with the sunlight behind it, and got the inspiration for the ad. So the art is a combination of photos and Photoshop.

That was rather tame for anti twilight anything. I also really like that piece of art for Hackmaster.

We've discussed printing larger compilations, but if we do it will probably just be fancy leatherbound ones. Marvel and DC can print their giant collections because they're using cheap newsprint instead of their normal color, and can print huge quantities (which lowers the printing cost). Even if we were interested in doing so, we'd have to wait until we sold out of the current compilations or we'd end up essentially competing with ourselves.

Personally, I don't like the DC/Marvel b&w collections - I'd rather have smaller, more expensive, compilations in color than giant ones with cheap b&w printing. The old four-color printing is part of what makes those comics attractive to me. Then there are some books, like when Bill Sienkiewicz was illustrating Moon Knight, where the color is used to dramatic effect and the b&w reprints just don't capture it.

Ok, I agree that the dc/marvel ones aren't the best quality... So yeah, nice big leatherbound copies would be preferable than trying to start collecting bundles at this late in the game...
